Social Media - Action Kit

Together, our voices can cause change and together, we can move illogical Government legislation and help the climate at the same time.

Use the hashtag #ThisTAXisPants across digital and social media and ask your local MP to support the cause.

Follow us @Modibodi, @WEN_UK and @Bloodygood_ to keep up to date with the campaign.

Template tweets

Feel free to be creative but if you would like a template to work from, have a look at our suggestions below:

@[MPhandle] periods are not a luxury, nor is supporting sustainable products. Help us to stop #periodpoverty, provide choice and to remove the #tampontax. Please use your voice to axe the tax on sustainable period pants #ThisTAXisPants #tampontax #periodpoverty #modibodi @Modibodi @Bloodygood_ @WEN_UK

@rishisunak @[MPhandle] the war on the tampon tax is not over! Please scrap VAT on period pants in the Budget on 3 March #thistaxispants #periodpoverty @Modibodi @Bloodygood_ @WEN_UK

@[MPhandle] did you know period pants are still taxed at 20%? Please ask @rishisunak @hmtreasury to scrap the #tampontax on ALL menstrual products #thistaxispants @modibodi @bloodygood_ @wen_uk

@[MPhandle] @rishisunak did you know it costs £88m a year to clear our sewers blocked by menstrual products according to @wen_uk? So why tax sustainable period pants at 20%? #thistaxispants @modibodi @bloodygood_

@rishisunak did you know that disposable period products generate 200,000 tonnes of waste per year according to @wen_uk? So why tax sustainable period pants at 20% and charge zero tax on disposables? #thistaxispants @modibodi @[MPhandle]

@[MPhandle] #axethetax on sustainable period pants because the #tampontax has NOT been removed. Period pants are sustainable and reusable – why should #protectingtheplanet on your #period be a luxury. @Modibodi @Bloodygood_ @WEN_UK

Let’s write

We’ve been engaging with MPs and are pleased with the support we’ve seen so far but we need to go further. MPs need to see that this is something which their community cares about. We need our MPs to engage with this issue in Parliament – to ask questions and hold Ministers to account.

Email or write to your local MP and ask them to get behind this. Speaking to your individual MPs is the best way to win hearts and minds. Here is a template letter to help you – but feel free to make it personal! Remember that MPs will only respond to letters from their constituents, so use the link in the template letter to find yours.

The Budget is on 3rd March, so there’s no time to delay!
