Working Group A: Sustaining and Institutionalizing Garden Programs

Create case studies of sustaining and institutionalizing garden programs through funding, implementation, staff models, partnerships and buy-in, and maintaining school gardens.

Working group members will gain inspiration and increased knowledge of sustaining and institutionalizing garden programs.

SGSOs participating in the virtual presentation will increase their organization’s capacity to sustain and institutionalize garden programs, and access tools to support them in this work.

Update and enhance the Sustaining and Institutionalizing Best Practices document with a focus on funding, implementation, staff models, partnerships and buy-in, and maintaining school gardens.

Working Group B: Finding and Sequencing High-Quality Lessons

Create a how-to guide for developing a scope and sequence for a school garden program, potentially including:

  • Finding and Improving Lessons: A concise, go-to resource for identifying and/or adapting garden lessons to be high quality.
  • Sequencing Lessons: Step-by-step instructions for identifying learning objectives and then sequencing age-appropriate lessons to build toward those goals.

Working group members will gain inspiration and increased knowledge of finding and sequencing high-quality lessons.

SGSOs participating in the virtual presentation will increase their organization's capacity to find and sequence high-quality lessons, and access tools to support them in this work.

Working Group C: Strengthening Equity and Inclusion in Garden Education

Create a  best practices document on equity and inclusion in SGSOs including:

  • Compiling suggested resources and developing action steps for organizations wishing to become more equitable and inclusive.
  • Collecting and sharing examples from the field for organizations working to strengthen equity and inclusion in their programs.

Working group members will gain inspiration and increased knowledge of equity and inclusion in garden education.

SGSOs participating in the virtual presentation will increase their organization's capacity to strengthen equity and inclusion in garden education, and access tools to support them in this work.

Working Group D: Evaluation and Share Out

Update and enhance the program assessment best practices document with a focus on  designing survey questions and communicating the results of surveys including:

  • Compiling a question bank of high-quality, common questions from existing or newly created surveys.
  • Creating guidance on creating highly effective strategies for sharing impact.
  • Creating case studies of evaluation tools

Working group members will gain inspiration and increased knowledge of evaluation and sharing impacts.
