The British School of Córdoba

The British School of Córdoba, is a leading full school (3-18) with approximately 500 pupils on roll and serves the historic city of Córdoba in Andalucía. The school has established itself as a leading private school in the area, offering a high-quality British education that prides itself on in its child-centered learning and excellent university entry results, both for Spanish and International Universities (students have recently gained places at Oxford, Cambridge and Yale).

The British School of Córdoba has recently started offering the IB Diploma as it´s main Sixth Form course and we are therefore particularly interested in recruiting staff with IB Diploma experience, where appropriate.

We ideally seek first language English teaching staff however, we do also consider those who have proven excellent English language skills as their second language, especially if they have recent experience in a British or International school.

Córdoba

Córdoba has a long, rich history which is reflected in its warm and welcoming people.   It attracts a large number of tourists who enjoy the attraction of its monuments, orange tree lined streets and excellent restaurants and bars. Situated in the heart of Andalucía it is ‘real Spain’ with a full cultural calendar including the annual ‘feria’, guitar and poetry festivals,  theater  and dance. Staff enjoy a full range of sports locally such as running, cycling, canoeing and of course tennis.

It is a safe city for families with good local transport and a relatively low cost of living. It has high speed rail links to Madrid (1hr 40 mins), Seville (45 mins) or Málaga (55 mins) with good motorway connections. It is served by Malaga and Seville airports. Most staff live in the city but some have opted to settle in the surrounding villages.

Accommodation costs are relatively low; apartments with a shared swimming pool start from €600 a month.   Córdoba is easy to get around with an efficient, cheap bus service, although most staff cycle or walk to and from work. The lifestyle in Córdoba is very appealing – great weather, friendly locals and a relatively low cost of living.   Córdoba is very Spanish, you  won't  find English pubs, fish and chips, or a roast dinner here!
