Standardized Testing will be held this week April 16-19. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep, has a good breakfast, and brings a nutritious morning snack. A rested body filled with nutritious food equals an alert student! Please have your child at school a few minutes early to avoid being tardy. Tardy students will need to wait in the school office as they are not allowed to enter the classroom once testing begins.
Due to the Standardized Testing students will not have homework, quizzes, or tests this week. We will be testing in the morning and continuing with our curriculum in the afternoon. If your child does not finish classwork in class, they will still be expected to finish it at home this week.
There will not be a chapel this Wednesday due to testing. Therefore students are NOT required to wear chapel dress on Wednesday only uniform clothing.
Our next field trip this school year will be to Fog Willow Farms on Thursday, April 26th. During this field trip, students will visit farm animals and participate in various experiments and activities. Parents are admitted for free. An information sheet that includes more details about this field trip will be sent home in your child’s folder. Permission slip envelopes will be sent home soon as well. The cost is $8 per child. Permission slip envelops and the field trip fee is due Wednesday, April 18th. If you are interested in driving, please have updated copies of your driver’s license and vehicle insurance in the front office by Friday, April 20th.
Field Day will be held this Friday! A detailed information sheet was sent home in your child’s folder last week. Hot dogs will be provided for the children. Please send chips and a drink (one soda can will be allowed this time only) in your child’s lunch box that day. Each student will also need to bring a small (child size) sand pail (please, no hardware store buckets or large pails) and a beach towel. The Dollar Tree is a good place to find sand pails. Children should wear a t-shirt (no tank tops or spaghetti straps), shorts or pants and tennis shoes (no sandals, flip flops, crocs or water shoes). For precaution, send a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Your child will be out in the sun most of the morning, please apply sunscreen that morning before your child comes to school. Mr. Ortiz will need lots of volunteers. Please contact him directly if you are able to help - email@example.com.
Wednesday - Bring Mandolins
Music - Preparing “Pomp and Circumstance” for Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, May 31st; this event is a mandatory participation and will be for a grade.
