There was a truce on 24 December 1914 between the German and British In world war 1, Pope Benedict stood up in the middle of no man’s land and declared a truce. Why did they want a truce? He wanted to celebrate Christmas.

  How did the truce start, well lots of trenches lit up              candles and sang christmas carols they also put mini christmas trees and candles outside to be more festive when they stood out of there trenches the germans shouted merry christmas in english there was 100,000 British and German men that took place in this true the british thought when they stood out of there trenches they were being trapped

 This truce was held on the 24 of december 1914 the germans stood out of there trenches and declared a truce,  they didn't want to fight on christmas day they wanted to celebrate it. So the british agreed, soldiers on both sides  shook hands and stopped fighting unfortunately one of the government's heard that they were having a truce he did not like it so he set of a bomb to get them to start fighting again
