Important Update
June 2, 2026
Dear Current and Prospective MDUSD Volunteers,
Thank you for your interest in supporting our students and schools. Volunteers are an important part of the MDUSD community, and we truly appreciate the time and care you give to our students. Pursuant to Senate Bill 848 (SB 848), some school volunteers are now considered Mandated Reporters under California law. This change took effect on January 1, 2026.
Beginning July 1, 2026, all cleared Level Two and Level Three volunteers must complete Mandated Reporter Training each year.
To serve as a cleared Level Two or Level Three volunteer, the following requirements must be completed:
-Fingerprint clearance
-Upload proof of negative TB test
-Upload proof of Annual Mandated Reporter Training (new as of July 1, 2026)
-Receive authorization and approval by each site administrator for the school you select.
Current Volunteers:
Current Level Two and Level Three volunteers must complete the required training before they can volunteer after July 1, 2026, and each year after that, in order to remain on the cleared volunteer list.
Current volunteers can continue to volunteer through June 30, but will not be allowed to volunteer after July 1, 2026 until they complete the training, which is now available online. Please do not wait, you can complete this requirement right away.
Lastly, please do not submit another volunteer application. Please just complete the training as listed below.
New Volunteers:
Individuals applying to become a Level Two or Level Three volunteer must complete all clearance requirements, including the online Mandated Reporter Training before they are approved to volunteer.
