I regularly perform solo concerts of both improvised and composed music. Programs can be modified to fit the individual concert situation. Most frequent are concert length performances that weave together fragments of my compositions with improvisation, making full use of the timbral palette of the contrabass. Recent repertoire concerts include works by Avram, Dumitrescu, Radulescu, Gubaidulina.
Interlocutions I (2017), Phosphene (2017), Transmogrificant I (2015), Metatrope(2015-2017), Domenico Scarlatti Sonata K34 arranged for solo bass (2014)
Kyle Motl is a bassist, composer, and improviser. Active in a variety of ensembles and settings, Kyle’s work crosses the boundaries between idioms as wide as free jazz, contemporary concert music, and extreme metal. He regularly gives solo concerts, utilizing the sonic potentials of the contrabass to explore issues of complexity, chaos, and ritual in performance.
