Close up:

Create an image where the subjects face is the dominant part of the image.  This composition should nearly fill the frame.  NO BORING LIGHT.  Look for lighting that is directional (coming from one side) or diffused (even and soft).  Mid day light by the gym is going to look bad.  

Play around with the angle of the portrait.  Position yourself slightly higher and lower than your subject.

No Face:

With the same person, take a portrait that does not show the individual's face

1. Hands, Hands tell a story about an individual, you can tell what someone does for a living by their hands.

2. Feet, No they are not as yucky as that. Feet can add a sense of balance, strength, and playfulness to an image.

3. Unrecognizable Focus on part of the human body, make the image as abstract as possible.

4. Suggestive What can you suggest with a photo that does not include the person’s
