Top Tips for charities:

1. Strict adherence of all government regulation - in order to keep all members of the organisation safe and to keep the charity in good standing, all rules and regulations set by the government should be researched and understood by those who have operational roles within the charity.

2. Research government advice - the government has included on its www.gov.uk website, information specifically for charities who may be facing financial difficulties due to coronavirus. Such information should be thoroughly researched and understood.

3. Prioritisation of plans - One of the most obvious concerns is the financial strain that the has been inflicted due to CV19, In order to ensure survival, charities should take a very pragmatic and realistic approach to all their initial plans and reshuffle them to properly reflect the new reality. This may include delaying plans which were made some time ago and may be disappointing but is definitely important.

4. Identifying restricted funds - importantly, charities should quickly assess if any of the funds they currently have are restricted use and therefore can only be used for certain things. This assessment should be done as early as possible and the possibility of the amendments of restrictions should be investigated. This should be done only if entirely necessary and such a decision should be taken collectively and not just by the trustee.

5. Awareness campaign - only if possible, charities with the capability and resources can consider the increase of marketing and awareness campaigns via social media given the increase in the amount of time spent at home on laptops and phones due to corona virus.
