CARE - COURAGE - RESPECT - RESPONSIBILITY

NEWSLETTER 2                                                                        18th September 2017

Things to look forward to this week and next week

Saturday 23rd  September

Treasure Hunt organised by our PTA.  Setting off from school at 2pm - see below for more information.

From the Headteacher

During our Inset day we reviewed the behaviour policy and I wanted to bring to your attention a section which defines what all members of our school community should do to help us with this policy.

At Hagbourne CE Primary School we nurture our children, within our Christian environment, to be caring, respectful, responsible individuals who have courage to take risks and make the right choices.  We want our children to get the most from school life and this policy ensures a consistent approach from the whole school.

This week we will be sharing the following with the children, please take the time to read it through yourself.

Children should:

Parents should:

Headteacher should:

Governors should:

The poster over is a summary of our behaviour policy which is displayed in all classes.

The full policy can be found on the school website or here and explains the sanctions and rewards.

The Anti-bullying policy is also on our school website and this is based on the one recommended by the County Council.  There is also a leaflet for parents and carers summarising the policy and this can be found here.

We will be doing more work with the children on Anti-bullying during National Anti-Bullying Week 13th-17th Nov 2016 where the theme is 'All Different All Equal'.

Medical Reminders

Please can all parents whose children have a medical need check that all information on their child is up to date. If there have been any changes please complete a new Medical Plan.  This includes all children with inhalers, epipens or any allergies as well as other needs.  Please can you also check expiry dates on any medicine/ inhalers / epipens  If you are unsure please check at the office.

The medical policy can be found on the school website here.

Public Health England have a very useful document with all the advice on times that children should be kept of school.  It is called ‘Guidance on Infection Control in Schools and other Childcare Settings’. Despite the grim title it is actually a very useful document!  The link can be found here.

Diarrhoea and/ or sickness is the one of the most common illnesses and the recommendation is 48 hours off school from last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.  Please do not send them in after being sick as it does spread and we can always rely on children telling us they were sick ‘last night’ and we will have to ring you to pick them up.

Calpol or similar - we are NOT allowed to give non-prescribed medicines to children. Please give it to them before coming to school.  DO NOT send children in with the tablets or sachets in their lunchboxes.  It quite clearly states ‘keep out of reach of children’.   Please do not allow children to bring in any types of cough sweets or throat sweets.

We do allow lipsalve, as long as they don’t share it!

Allergies - NO NUTS

Our school has a no nuts policy as we have several children with severe nut allergies and we do not want to put their lives at risk.

Please remember Nutella contains nuts.

After School

Please remember to leave the playground as soon as possible so that our After School Club can come out and use the area especially now the evenings are getting shorter.

To ensure the safety of the children after school we ask that the children do not cycle bikes or scooters around the playground.
