Frequently Asked Questions for MADE

Published March 15, 2018

When will you be open?

Our goal is to be open this summer, 2018.

What will your membership model look like?

We are still working out the finer details for our membership model. Our priority is to develop a model which suits the needs of various kinds of makers. For example, we would like to have different kinds of membership for ‘soft arts’ users (e.g. lasers), ‘hard arts’ users (e.g. metals), and also a membership which caters to both. Members will undoubtedly have discounts on classes, and will also have opportunities to rent storage space.

What will education look like?

Currently our team is working hard to build out an educational system, so our members may all learn how to use equipment. Our primary goals for education in the first six months is to grant members access to equipment, and also to offer awesome experiences to new folks.

We hope to have a team of wonderful instructors to teach these classes as well. If you are interested in becoming an instructor for MADE, please email Emily at with your area of interest and phone number. Our instructor model and onboarding process are still being developed, so please be patient as the finer details are yet to come.

What if I took a class at TechShop? Will I need to take another class at MADE?

This is a concern our team has put a lot of thought into. We believe that some sort of review will be necessary for the sake of refreshing your knowledge, satisfying insurance requirements, and so we can rest assured that no one will harm themselves or the equipment. The details for these ‘Refresher Courses’ will be announced once they have been more developed.

Will you have classes for my child?

Eventually, yes! Our primary focus is helping all the adult makers in our community. We hope to be running kids camps by next summer, though!

When can I see the space?

We are planning on organizing a preview party as soon as we can. Right now it’s quite messy!

How can I help?

If you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities, let us know! You can email her at, and ask to be put on the 'Volunteer Email List’. We will be sending out any calls for volunteers via this list.

There hasn’t been much need for volunteers since the big move, but that may change in the future. Our community has been blessed to have so many passionate and generous makers.

If you have any further questions, please let us know! You can always email Emily at with any queries you may have.
