Tournament Notes:

Gold Medal Game

The 65s played Placerville, CA in the final gold medal game.  This is the same team they had the great comeback victory earlier in the tournament.  It was a well defensively played game and offense was just enough to earn the 9-7 win.  The 65s had a great tournament, losing only one game out of the six they played.  There were three first timers for the Huntsman games on the squad.  Jim Schafer, Terry Tucker and Rick Sonsteby.  By all indications,  they were glad they decided to come.  Weather was great all week, competition was good, and we had great camaraderie.  It also helped that we were placed in a competitive division.

Pool Round Hi-Lites

The 65s had a good game against the Alaska team with the 65s coming out ahead in extra innings.  Bats were working well for the 65s in that game as well as the game against the Bandits.  However the quieted down in the game against the Thunder from Salt Lake City.

Bracket Round Hi-Lites:

Two exciting games for the 65s to start the double knockout tournament play.   First game against Hawaii saw a neck & neck score throughout with the 65s coming out on top in the end. The 65s made the second game against Placerville, California very exciting for the fans with a come from behind last inning victory.  After falling behind 14 - 6 after four innings, the 65s bats came alive and came back in the 6th and final inning to win the game.  Needless to say, refreshments were flowing after this game.   This win automatically to the 65s to the final game on Friday at 11:10, and guarantees the 65s at least a Silver Medal.
