Add a Signature

If you want to personalize your email messages by automatically adding a signature follow the steps below to create a Signature.

Open a new tab in a Chrome Browser

Click the Google App symbol  (aka the waffle)

Google options will open up below.  Select Mail

 In the top right click the tool symbol and scroll down to “Settings

     

Scroll down to Signature section.  Change radio button from No Signature to the second button.

You can personalize your signature using the text editing tools.

When you are complete, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

 Change your Default Text Style

If you want to change your default text in your email messages follow the steps below to change your default text style.

Open a new tab in a Chrome Browser

Click the Google App symbol  (aka the waffle)

Google options will open up below.  Select Mail

 In the top right click the tool symbol and scroll down to “Settings

Scroll down to Default Text Style section.

You can personalize your default text using the text features in the drop down options.

When you are complete, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

Mark (Flag) Important Messages

You can mark (flag) your important messages with a variety of icons.

Follow the steps below to add additional stars and icons to flag your important messages.

Open a new tab in a Chrome Browser

Click the Google App symbol  (aka the waffle)

Google options will open up below.  Select Mail

 In the top right click the tool symbol and scroll down to “Settings

Scroll down to the Stars section. By default you will have 1 star for flagging emails.

Choose if you want to use 1 star, 4 stars or all stars to flag your emails for follow up.

When you are complete, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

Create a Vacation Responder (Out of Office Replies)

If you are going to be out of the office for any amount of time and you want people to receive an out of office reply these steps will guide you through the process of setting it up.

Open a new tab in a Chrome Browser

Click the Google App symbol  (aka the waffle)

Google options will open up below.  Select Mail

 In the top right click the tool symbol and scroll down to “Settings

Scroll down to the Vacation Responder section.  Change radio button from Vacation Responder Off to the second button Vacation Responder On.

Add the First day and Last day you want the Vacation response to be sent.

Personalize your message using the textbox and text features.

Choose the radio button to indicate who should receive the Vacation/Out of Office response.

When you are complete, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

Create Categories to Sort your Inbox

You can organize your inbox by using a variety of category options.

Follow the steps below to enable the Category tabs across the top of your Inbox.

Open a new tab in a Chrome Browser

Click the Google App symbol  (aka the waffle)

Google options will open up below.  Select Mail

 In the top right click the tool symbol   and scroll down to “Settings”

Click on blue link to Inbox

Scroll down to Categories section. By default all emails will populate in the Primary Inbox.

Personalize your Inbox by choosing other categories above. They will appear as tabs in your email inbox as shown in the image above.

When you are complete, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

Add a Preview Pane

Do you like seeing your email messages in a Preview Pane mode (like in Outlook)?

Follow the steps below to add a Preview Pane to your Inbox.

Open a new tab in a Chrome Browser

Click the Google App symbol  (aka the waffle)

Google options will open up below.  Select Mail

 In the top right click the tool symbol   and scroll down to “Settings”

Click on the blue link to Labs

Scroll down to Preview Pane.  By default the Disable radio button is marked. Change it to Enable.

When you are complete, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

You will return to the main email page. Click on the Preview Pane icon in the top right corner of your gmail.

Click on the dropdown arrow and choose between No Split, Vertical Split or Horizontal Split view.
