- Find and listen to an audio/visual clip from one of the Swahili news sources provided above. Listen/watch until you can comprehend it enough to relay the information to someone else.
Exercises
- Masomo Ya Kisasa: “Asili ya Kiswahili,” Activities – Complete Objective 4 (p. 196). Write 2-3 paragraphs about the group you chose. Be prepared to tell about the group in your conversation session.
- Write an 8 sentence summary description of the audio or video clip you chose from a Swahili news source. Be prepared to describe the clip in your conversation session and discuss the topic covered in the clip.
- Masomo Ya Kisasa: “Asili ya Kiswahili,” Activities – Complete Objective 8 (p. 196) to hand in.
Preparation for Conversation Session:
- Prepare to discuss your audio or video clip from one of the Swahili news sources provided above. If you have questions about vocabulary or grammatical structures used in the clip, bring your questions to the session and discuss them with your partner/group. However, the aim is to generate a topical discussion regarding what you have watched or listened to in preparation for the session, so make sure to have a good grasp of what the clip is presenting.
- Be prepared to give a short presentation about the group you chose to write about in Objective 4.
- Be prepared to discuss what you would like to know more about from the presentations in your group and/or the news piece you chose. Make a list of questions you would like to ask about the topics.
