Code of Conduct for the Workshop and Hackathon/Uploathon of AI4Life and UC3M
AI4Life and UC3M are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and safe learning environment at our events. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for all participants, including attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers, at the conference. We invite everyone involved to help us create a safe and positive experience for all.
Expected Behaviour:
- Treat all participants with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions. Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative.
- Communicate openly with respect for others, critiquing ideas rather than individuals.
- Avoid personal attacks directed toward other attendees, participants, staff, and suppliers.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert event organizers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
- Respect the rules and policies of the meeting venue, hotels, or any other used facilities.
Unacceptable Behavior:
- Harassment and intimidation based on gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, nationality, religion, or age, or any other status protected by laws in the location where the event is being held (Comunidad de Madrid, Spain).
- Sexual harassment or intimidation, including unwelcome sexual attention, stalking (physical or virtual), or unsolicited physical contact.
- Yelling at or threatening speakers (verbally or physically).
- Disruption of talks at sessions, in the venue, or other organised events. All participants must comply with the instructions of the moderator and any event staff.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior:
- Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
- If a participant engages in harassing behavior, event organizers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.
- Event organizers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants.
Reporting:
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of event staff immediately. Event staff can be identified as they will be presented as organizers of the event.
Event staff will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
Contact Information:
Please report any incidents to the organizers of the event as Caterina Fuster-Barceló (cafuster@pa.uc3m.es) or Laura Alises (lalises@pa.uc3m.es) via email or personally for immediate attention.
We expect participants to follow these rules at the Workshop as well as during the Hackathon and Uploathon even in the social activities. We think these rules will help make the event a better experience for everyone.
This Code of Conduct has been adapted from the EMBL Courses and Conference Code of Conduct.
