Group Fitness Class Descriptions (Updated 2/27/24)
Express Strength - effective and efficient full-body strength workout focusing on exercises that help improve daily functioning.
Zumba® Fitness - dance fitness class using Latin and International rhythms to mix low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning party.
Tai Chi - A form of mind – body exercise. A preventative and rejuvenating practice that involves breath work, slow and flowing movements to increase your health, mental focus, strength, and vitality. The practice aims to create balance in the body and improve overall well-being.
Vin Flow Yoga - like a moving meditation that creates strength, freedom, and fluidity in the body and mind. This class moves from pose to pose, held for no more than five to eight breaths. All levels are welcome to attend this rigorous practice!
Pilates - focuses on toning muscles, building core strength, improving flexibility, and joint stability- all levels are always welcome!
Chair Yoga - helps increase flexibility, strength, and body awareness. Postures are performed while seated and/or with the aid of a chair. These classes are much more accessible for those who struggle to get down on a mat, but still want all the benefits of yoga!
Lunchtime Slow Burn Yoga Flow - this 45-minute class is a slower power practice that will move your body with slow and deliberate flowing postures, challenge your strength and balance, and relax you into a well-deserved savasana. But don’t worry, you will still feel the BURN!
Silver Strength - energizing class for active older adults. Focuses on endurance, coordination, balance, and flexibility. Includes seated and standing exercises and postures.
Cardio Barre - blends cardio, strength training, flexibility, balance, and core conditioning in a total body workout that helps strengthen the hips, glutes, abs, and arms.
Tae Kwon Do - Tae Kwon Do is a traditional Korean martial art that emphasizes kicking and punching. Students will develop power, balance, focus, accuracy, and speed through consistent practice and dedication. Classes follow a vigorous routine of basics, forms, three-step sparring, and free-style sparring (yellow belts and up). Practitioners of Tae Kwon Do benefit from increased stamina, confidence, self efficacy, and sense of wellbeing. All students from the age of six and up are welcome.
Stability Ball - Core strength and balance - This fun core stability ball class will not only increase balance and stability but will help you develop control and strength of the core body muscles increasing abdominal, back and glute muscle strength in the process. Instruction is given for beginner, intermediate or advanced fitness levels.
Cardio Fitness - encompasses both weighted and body-weight exercises to improve cardiovascular endurance. This class targets all muscle groups by engaging in dynamic and isometric movements. The workouts will be done with high intensity and high energy with minimal impact on joints.
Vin/Yin Flow Yoga - begins with a gentle vinyasa flow to build strength and warm up the body. The second half of the class will focus on yin poses. These poses are held longer to stretch the connective tissue and increase flexibility.
Dance Fitness - a party with a purpose. You will have a good time building endurance and strength, regardless of your fitness level or dance experience. Choreography is easy to follow and is sure to get your heart pumping!
Don’t Stop till you Drop - interval-style class consisting of a fun, fast-paced, timed circuit based training. Combines kickboxing moves with strength training and cardio movements to increase your strength and endurance.
PlyoCardio Lift - an exhilarating group workout that combines the explosive power of plyometrics, the heart-pumping intensity of cardio, and the muscle-building benefits of weight lifting.
Barre/ Pilates - Is Balance, Strength, and a strong Core your goal? Using the Barre and mat based exercises, this Pilates-Barre Fusion class incorporates exercises from barre, yoga, and strength training. Similar to Mat Pilates, this class has a deep focus on the core and emphasizes moves that will tone, stretch and elongate muscles. Instruction is given for all fitness levels.
Zumba® Gold - low impact Zumba Fitness! This class introduces easy-to-follow choreography that focuses on cardiovascular fitness, muscular conditioning, balance, range of motion, flexibility, and coordination.
Booty, Core, & More - mat based class with a focus on strengthening the glutes, core and thigh areas!
Belly Dance - this class is for beginners and the experienced alike; celebrating bodies and strengthening core muscles with dance techniques and combos from Middle Eastern dance styles. Beginners will learn movements that are primary to belly dance with drills and conditioning for all levels of experience.
Yoga Strength and Mobility - 15 minutes of stretching/15 minutes of yoga with weights and 15 minutes of mobility moves.
Fit 45 - This 45 minute class is a blend of light cardio, balance and strength exercises set to a positive, upbeat playlist. All fitness levels are welcome!
Step by Step Line Dancing - Come learn fun and easy line dances in a supportive and energetic environment. No experience necessary, just a willingness to have fun and move to the music!
Ball Pilates - Pilates with a large stability ball combines traditional Pilates principles with the instability of the ball to enhance core engagement, balance, and flexibility. Exercises typically involve controlled movements, focusing on engaging the core muscles to stabilize the body while performing various movements like leg lifts, crunches, and stretches.
