Lone Swimmers

Purpose

This policy outlines the procedures for the safe use of the hydrotherapy pool by an individual lone swimmer.

Definition of a lone swimmer

The definition of lone swimmers is

“someone who is in the pool on their own with no other swimmer over the age of 8 years old and doesn't have support from a poolside person”

The above description does not apply to swimming lessons only to Hydrotherapy or Private hire

Action that needs to be taken

When any person matching the above description uses our hydrotherapy pool:

• A staff member must be in direct poolside supervision of the sessions and the swimmer.
• Poolside is defined within each site Normal Operating Procedures (NOP)

NOTE: When users do not meet the above description the staff should follow their normal supervision procedures which can be found in each site's Normal Operating Procedures (NOP)
