Watauga Arts Council Opening/Closing Protocol
Opening & Start of Class or Event
- You may access your room to set up 30 minutes prior to your session. If additional time is needed, coordinate with Arts Education.
- If the building is closed at the time of your arrival:
- Use your 4 digit code to get into the building. If you are a group without an access code, be sure to coordinate and confirm access with WAC at least one week prior to your event.
- Turn on the lights in the art space.
- Changing the temperature: There is a thermostat in the classroom and in the hallway. Slide your finger over the control on the right hand side of the unit to set the temperature to your desired temperature.
- You can play music through the thermostat. Go to music playing app, select device, select airplay mode and select the WAC Front or WAC Rear.
- Internet for instructors (not for students): Network Name: WCAC Office Password: Mazie.Jones
- Have all attendees sign in on the tablet in the lobby. If tablet is dead, please use paper forms.

Closing
- Clean up and reset the classroom or meeting space.
- Sweep
- Wipe down tables as needed.
- Ensure paint brushes have been cleaned if needed.
- If you are the last class/event of the day:
- Make sure no one is in the building (don’t forget to check the restrooms and lock the back door!). If there is another instructor or coordinator, make sure they know these closedown procedures,
- Lock Back door, side door, and when leaving lock front door: last button on the right of the key pad on the exterior of the front door.
- Charge the sign-in tablet on the intern/hallway desk.
- Turn off all the lights.
- On the front door keypad, press the Lock icon on the bottom right side to lock the front door. Make sure you hear and see the lock close before leaving!
