Grandmasters - Week 5 Results and Controversy

It’s getting to that time where we start talking about relegation and playoffs! Only 2 weeks remain in GM 2021 Season 1. One more week of Last Hero Standing, followed by a week of Conquest. Playoffs are in Conquest format. Top 8 go to Playoffs, 9-12 are done for the season, and 13-16 (bottom 4) are automatically relegated.

• Spring Water from 4 to 5 mana
• First day from 0 to 1 mana, but now gives 3 1-Cost minions
• Hysteria to from 3 to 4 mana
• Crabrider to changed to have Battlecry: Gain windfury this turn only
• Angry Mankrik from 3/10 down to a 3/7

• BUFFS

• Razorboar went from 2/2 to 3/2
• Xanesh now reduces the cost of Corrupt AND Corrupted cards in your hand/deck
• Unbound Elemental went from 2/4 to 4
• Tidal Surge from 4 to 3 Mana
• Lilypad Lurker from a 4/5 to 5/6
• Fiendish Circle from 4 to 3 Mana
• Deck of Chaos from 6 to 5 Mana

Alec Dawson replied to a thread from (HSreplay’s own) Tiago saying:

"Paladin a little stronger than we’d like but everything else is hitting on the intentions. Most of the buffs were to set up classes for the future or do some cost correction. Player expectations surrounding patch can be hard to manage (people have different spice tolerance!). But we can see that and adjust how some of the communication goes out. We’ve been fairly consistent in the way we balance over the last year or so (lighter touches, usually don’t kill decks) and can do a better job of getting that message out. In the end though our expansions and mini sets will act as opportunities for bigger landscape shifts. Less likely to see that in our frequent balance changes unless something is very off."
