Immigrant Heritage Month

June is Immigrant Heritage Month and the City of Boston Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement would like to invite your classroom to help us celebrate! As the butterfly is often a symbol of migration, we will have a butterfly exhibit in City Hall. The paper butterflies will be decorated by the students and will hang from a ceiling. We hope this project will inspire your students to take pride in their own cultures and identities. Would you and your classroom be interested in participating? If so, learn more and please fill our interest form by Friday, May 13, 2022.

ACCESS Data Post-Reporting Validation & Accommodation

DESE Emergency SPED, ESL, and Digital Literacy licenses Extension

MA DESE opened the application process to extend Emergency SPED, ESL, and Digital Literacy licenses to June 2023 on ELAR. This booklet, "How to Apply for the Emergency Extension," will be of interest to teachers with emergency licenses in these fields. Applicants will need to document that they have met the content knowledge of the license. Please share the booklet with your network.

<Urgent> Updates to PeopleSoft - Impacts on Stipends, Staffing and Payroll

The City of Boston is upgrading its BAIS HCM (PeopleSoft) system, which will result in accelerated scheduling of payroll, as well as processing blackout periods for payroll, stipend, and new hires while the system is taken offline for upgrades.

Cluster Subs

As we approach the close of the year, we are going to phase out hiring of any new district funded cluster subs. We will accept new district funded cluster subs for hire through only through Thursday May 12th for internal candidates and Tuesday May 10th for external candidates.

Latinos For Education

Latinos for Education is now accepting applications for their Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship. The Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship is a 9-month program that supports Latino education leaders to advance in their leadership journey and ultimately expand their sphere of influence in the education sector, so more of our students succeed. New Electronic Form: Suspension Appeal Hearing Form for Parents

An electronic Short/Long Term, Indefinite Suspension, and Expulsion appeal hearing form has been created for parents to appeal disciplinary actions. This form will be included in the new Code Attachments for SY 22-23.  

 RJ Training Institute

Please see the attached flyer here with the registration link for the upcoming June RJ Training Institute (6/7, 14, 21). Priority will be given to our Social Workers, Boston Community Hub Schools school-based teams (educators, admin and other staff), and Safety Services Specialists. All are welcome to register through the embedded link. The RJ team will confirm your registration via email.

COVID-19 Test Update

The lab will be closed at noon on Monday May 9th through 6am Tuesday May 10th. Monday COVID-19 samples will be collected and delivered to the lab per schedule. Once the lab opens, they are adding additional staff so we don't expect much of a delay in getting back the COVID-19 test results. The PCs and Nurses are aware of the potential delay.
