I'm a CTO / Engineering Manager / Tech Lead with deep software development and people management skills. I work equally with code, teams, employees, methodologies, product owners, users and management to build high quality, dependable digital products and stable healthy teams.  I've worked in a range of industries and with a wide range of technologies over my 20+ years of experience building quality software for the web, financial services, automation and telecoms.

6point6: Engineering Manager - Web - News (Interim) for Global Media Org: June 2017 - now

Interim Engineering Manager for web teams delivering highly respected news content on a massive scale to 30 million users per week. Filling a difficult-to-hire-for interim role requiring respect of technical teams and management, I manage recruitment of the new management team, quarterly feature planning, support and mentor technical team leaders, organise developer and team lead recruitment and work on the key architectural initiatives requiring engagement with business and technical stakeholders across the organisation.

Virgin Holidays: Apr 2016 to Apr 2017

Lead frontend developer for search and merchandising.   The key project was to simplify and decouple pages from a large monolithic backend CMS and re-built these functions as single page apps and components to improve development agility and release frequency.  I was responsible for new architecture for, and leading development of, a new single page application for search and presentation of search results using Angular 2 and existing AngularJS components. My role included:

The resulting SPA achieved goals of allowing rapid development and deployment of A/B testable features for search and merchandising, allowing multiple releases daily.

Pure360: Jul 2015 to Mar 2016

Frontend developer for a new ESP (Email as Service Provider) web application.  As a part of the frontend team, I delivered components, features and pages for the email sending, scheduling and contact applications.  My work involved:
