“Reserva” a sui generis right under the Mexican Copyright Law

During the practice of copyright law in Mexico, it is frequently asked by our clients from different jurisdictions “what is a “Reserva”?” or “when and why should we apply for it?”. Here is a brief advice that may help you to gain a better understanding of this sui generis right in the Copyright Law of Mexico (Federal Law of the Rights of Author )...


Writing Competition

AIPF is pleased to announce it is introducing a competition for an essay or journal article on a topic of the author’s choice regarding intellectual property.


PRIZE: The winner will receive an expenses-paid trip to San Diego, CA to attend AIPF’s 2020 Annual Meeting, scheduled from September 23-25, 2020. The prize will include:

  • Complimentary registration to attend the 2020 Annual Meeting (valued at $900.00 USD)
  • 2 nights’ accommodation at the Westin San Diego (for the nights of September 23 and 24, 2020)
  • Up to $200.00 USD to cover incidental expenses, and
  • A round-trip economy airfare from your home city to San Diego (up to a maximum of $2,000.00 USD).

The competition is open to employees of AIPF member firms. The subject matter should display original thinking in an area of intellectual property of the author’s choice. Entries must be submitted electronically by May 1, 2020, to Brett Lunn ( with the Executive Office ( copied on submission.
