The Chess team will be meeting on Wednesdays from 3:15 - 5:15 p.m. through May 1.

 

Attention Junior Girls: Tomorrow you will have an opportunity to vote for senior officers for next year’s Hi-Tri Council. Candidates are Azelia Badger, Emily Cotton, and Caitlynn Currie. Watch your email for a ballot.

 

Tech Services is looking for summer workers.  If you are interested, please stop by B108 and pick up an application.  Work will begin at the end of May.  Applications are due back to Mrs. Williamson by April 26.

 

MV Students ... It's time to get involved and become part of Student Council as a Representative at Large.  There are FOUR POSITIONS available for 2024-25. Petitions and rules are available NOW in the District Office in Building A, before school, after school and between classes during the school day.  Petitions will not be available for pick up during class.  Petitions must be filed in Student Services with 20 signatures of students from the candidate's class, and 20 signatures from each of the other classes. File Your Petition: April 18, from 8:00 am to 8:10 am, during lunch periods, after school for one half hour (3:40 pm). Students may not file petitions before 8:00 am or after one half hour after school.  There will be no exceptions. Only students who will be sophomore, junior, or senior students the following school year may vote for Representative at Large. Get involved ... run for Representative at Large for 2024-25!

 

Attention Juniors who have applied for the Cooperative Education Work Program for 2024-2024 school year: There will be a mandatory meeting during 5th hour in room 109D on Thursday, April 18. You must attend this meeting if you plan on being on this Senior training program. Please contact Mr. Kabat if you have any questions about Thursday’s meeting.

 

Attention Class of 2024 members ... order your official Senior Class t shirt now through April 18!  They are only $10 (2XL - $12 and 3XL - $13).  We will wear these shirts for the Senior Class photo on May 8.  Turn in orders and payment to Dr. VanZandt or Mrs. Little. Hurry - order NOW!

 

Hey, students ... Vernois Yearbook needs you!  Join the Vernois 2025 staff for next year, and take part in creating our historic 100th volume - Legendary ... Since 1905!  Positions are open in photography, layout and design, business and sales, and copy writing.  See Dr. VanZandt or any current Vernois staff member for more information and to sign up, and be sure to see your Guidance Counselor TODAY to get enrolled in Yearbook Class for next year! You are legendary ... come join us!

 

Students who have earned service points this year need to pick up a service point form in the Main Office. Senior forms are due by April 19. Underclass forms are due by the end of the school year.

Project Graduation meeting for parents and/or seniors tonight in the cafeteria at 6 pm. It will be the last informational meeting before the big day. We will be selling Elks Chicken Dinner tickets. We hope to see you there!

The FFA Blood Drive was very successful on Wednesday. We had 64 students attempt to give blood. We were able to collect 40 units of blood from the 64 students. Thank you to everyone who came to give the gift of life. We were able to save 120 people because of your generosity and willingness to help give blood.

The Lady Ram Invite for today has been canceled and will be moved to Saturday, April 13.

 

Attention everyone giving blood today: Please make sure you drink plenty of fluids before you give blood today. Also eat a balanced meal a couple hours before giving blood. You will have to bring some form of identification to give blood. If you would still like to give blood, please email Mr. Kabat at jkabat@mvths.org to get your appointment set up. We have openings at 10:15 am and 12:15 pm.

Congratulations to Mt. Vernon FFA Agriculture Mechanics Team which placed 1st in Section 21 competition at Rend Lake College yesterday. Team members were Conner Spero -1st in Welding, Elias Mullinax - 1st in Surveying, Maelee Allen - 2nd in Carpentry, Broady Elliott and Tyler Curry - 2nd and 3rd in Electricity, and Kaleb Keele - 3rd in Agriculture Power and Mechanics.

 

Congratulations to Mt. Vernon FFA Agriculture Business Management team which placed 2nd in Section 21 yesterday at Rend Lake College. Team members were Elias Mullinax -6th place, Maelee Allen - 8th place, Calee Woodcock, Hannah Stuehlmeyer, Morgan Payne, Ava Tate, and Makai Teriet.

 

An amazing group of FBLA members represented Mt. Vernon Township High School at the 75th Annual FBLA State Leadership Conference held in Springfield, IL, on April 5-6. Thirty-two MVTHS FBLA members competed in a variety of Business Events. The conference was attended by over 1800 FBLA members throughout the State of Illinois.

MVTHS FBLA had 16 members who placed in the Top Ten of their event with 4 NATIONAL QUALIFIERS who will compete at the FBLA National Conference held in Orlando, FL, in June!! MVTHS FBLA received 7th place for the Largest Chapter Award with 83 members and was also recognized as a 2023-2024 Gold Level Champion Chapter. Top ten winners are as follows: 3rd Place (National Qualifiers): Alistair Clodi, Introduction to FBLA & Sumner Johnson, Sales Presentation; 4th Place (National Qualifiers): Klayton Simmons, Insurance & Risk Management & Taytum Taylor, Future Business Educator; 5th Place: Brylie Brands, Business Plan & McKenzie Hughes, Human Resources; 6th Place: Cady Ort, Accounting I & Kaden Payne, Personal Finance; 7th Place: Logan Armstrong, Introduction to Marketing Concepts; Sierra Bird-Horton, Client Services; Zuri Das, Business Communications & Sawyer Mays, Networking Infrastructures; 8th Place: Truman Carnine, Introduction to Public Speaking; Ellie Hall, Introduction to Business Presentation & Harrison Shields, Accounting II; 10th Place: Lilly Anderton, Brylie Brands, and Taytum Taylor, Local Chapter Annual Business Report. Congratulations also to Cam Meyer for being elected as the 2024-2025 FBLA Illinois State Reporter. Alistair Clodi will also serve as the 2024-2025 FBLA Illinois Vice President for the Southern Area. Alistair earned this officer position at the Southern Area Conference held in October.
