Call to Worship

We gather to worship the God of all creation

who crafted the seas and mountains, and yet cares for each of us.

We gather to worship the God of all mystery

who rejoices in our being, and invites us to join the cosmic dance!

✠ Song of Praise                    “Holy Holy, Holy”                                 Pew Hymnal #138

Invitation to Confession                           Brenda Goodman, Worship Leader

We are created in God’s image, and we are called good, but too often our actions distort that image and fail to reflect goodness in this world. Let us return to who we were made to be as we confess.

Prayer of Confession (unison)

Majestic God, You have called us to live in peace, but we turn to conflict and hatred. You yearn for us to work together, but we keep finding reasons to dismiss each other. Forgive us and show us a better way to be your people, your body, your church. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness

Scripture is clear: everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. God draws us together, offering salvation, forgiveness, and new life to all.

Alleluia! Thanks be to God, praise be to Christ,  glory be to the Holy Spirit!

Response to Forgiveness            “Softly and Tenderly”

Verse 1: Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me.

See, on the portals he’s waiting and watching, watching for you and for me.

Refrain: “Come home, come home! You who are weary, come home.”

Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, “O sinner, come home!”

Verse 2: Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading, pleading for you and for me?

Why should we linger and heed not his mercies, mercies for you and for me? [Refrain]

Verse 3: O for the wonderful love he has promised, promised for you and for me!

Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon, pardon for you and for me. [Refrain]

Passing of the Peace

Greeting: The peace of Christ be with you.  Response: And also with you.

Affirmation of Faith         Adapted from the Confession of 1967, 9.07

Jesus Christ is God with humankind. He is the eternal Son of the Father, who became human and lived among us to fulfill the work of reconciliation. He is present in the church by the power of the Holy Spirit to continue and complete his mission. This work of God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is the foundation of all confessional statements about God, humanity, and the world. Therefore, the church calls all people to be reconciled to God and to one another.

Educating and Equipping Ministry Team Updates

Beginning at the end of this month, May 2023, we will no longer implement Live Zoom Sunday School. It is clear that Sunday School should now move to the next steps for the provision of this most important aspect of Christian Education and the involvement of our Youth and Children.  With new Co-Moderators for the Educating and Equipping Ministry Team (EEMT), Michelle Pass and Joe Green, this is an excellent and exciting time for us all to discuss, plan, and create these next steps.  We will look forward to and to participate with direction/guidance from new leadership as we move into the next phase of providing Sunday School for Memorial beyond May, 2023.

We want to thank each of you immensely for your time, dedication, efforts, input, and participation with Live Zoom Sunday School during the past 3 years.  We have enjoyed participating in this online experience and have learned so much! Even more, we will always be honored that you have walked with us throughout this live Zoom Sunday School experience.
