Course Description

Description: I teach grade-level friendly math classes that focus on such topics as algebra, geometry, ratios and coordinate planes.

Grades: 6th and 7th

Length: Students will attend this class every day for the entire school year.

Coursework

Curriculum: iReady: Which is a fairly intense, but very structured, in-book curriculum that our school district adopted three years ago. It is used in all classes in grades K-8 in the David Douglas School District.

Part of the iReady curriculum is MyPath, which is a program that provides interactive online learning at each students’ specific level. Students can log in to iReady from home.

Grading

Grades will be based on a percent of how much of the curriculum is completed each quarter:

96-100% - A+

91-95% - A

88-91% - A-

83-87 - B

78-82% - B-

73-77% - C

68-72% - C-

60-67% - D

Below 60% - F

These grades are determined by:

Assessments: 60%

Classwork/Homework: 25%

iReady: 15%

About Me

  • I have taught for 19 years (17 in the David Douglas School District.
  • I previously taught 2nd-4th grade at Mill Park Elementary.
  • I have a wife and two kids: A son who is a freshman at University of Oregon and a daughter who is a junior in high school.

Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Make sure you arrive to class on time.

Voices off when Mr. C or anyone else is presenting to the class.

Honor and respect everyone’s gender, race, religion and orientation.

Sit in your assigned seat.

Voices on when it’s your turn to participate vocally in daily learning.

Limit bathroom breaks, and use the hall pass anytime you want to leave class.

Make sure phones, art, non-math books and anything else that is not math-related stay in your backpack during class.
