LEGENDS OF THE LEAGUE

Legends of the League is the culmination of the 16 original expansions in a format that combines each into one grand tournament. Teams will bring in an Expansion Package to use to their advantage in each game, so every game will have up to two expansions in play at a time.

Structure
Legends of the League will use the Classic Prelim/Playoff tournament style - each team will play 3 preliminary games, with the results of those games determining a team’s preliminary ranked score. Following the preliminary rounds, a single elimination playoff round will take place to determine the tournament champion, with starting positions in the playoff bracket determined by the preliminary ranked scores (every team will play at least once in the playoffs).

Teams
Each team will consist of 8 characters selected through a standard Draft Pick. Prior to the Draft Pick, the following occurs for each team:

The Elixirs & Things shop will be closed - there is no further buying or selling of any elixirs or things. Each team will be provided free of charge 5 whiz-bangs, 5 Beater Bats, 3 wands, and 2 Remembralls, as well as 2 random elixirs per game. These will be the only elixirs and things to be used.

Expansion Packages

Following the Draft Pick, there will be a live auction followed by a silent auction where teams will bid on Expansion Packages to bring into their games. Expansion Packages include features from different expansions that teams will be able to use in a single game. By the end of both auctions, each team will have 4 expansion packages to use in their upcoming games (one per game).

Prior to each game, teams will select one of their Expansion Packages to use in that game. An Expansion Package used in a previous game cannot be used again until each Expansion Package has been used - as there will be 3 preliminary games plus at least 1 guaranteed playoff game per team, teams will not be able to reuse an Expansion Package until the second round of playoffs. If a team happens to have multiple of the same Expansion Package, each one counts individually.

Below are the 9 different Expansion Packages:

Z-Move Package
Teams using the Z-Move Package may use up to 2 Z-Moves during the game (cannot use the same Z-Move twice). In addition, each turn you will be dealt a Bonus Action card from the Hoops & Loops expansion; you may choose whether or not you would like to use it.

Beasts Package
Teams using the Beasts Package may summon a Magical Beast to the field at the end of round 3. Your team will be dealt 3 cards from which you may pick 1 (keep the rest in your hand). Cards will include Beasts from both Magical Beasts expansions. You will also be able to use a Monster Book of Monsters once during the game.

Festive Package
Teams using the Festive Package may select either set of Festive Formations from Season 3 OR 13 (you must choose which set prior to the start of the game). These formations will be added to the field, but only the team that purchased the package will be able to make use of the formations. Teams will be able to use the Swiss Chalet Festive Special twice per game.

Dank Arts Package
Teams using the Dank Arts package may sacrifice one of your 3d6 on odd numbered turns only to cast a spell (spell cast must have an energy cost that matches the die sacrificed). Teams do not need to announce which die is being sacrificed. The opposing team may use Protego to defend up to 2 times during the game.

Runes Package
Teams using the Runes Package may use up to 5 runes. If your team has any runes in your inventory, you may pick up to 2 of them to use; the rest will be randomly allocated. In addition, there will be 6 runes hidden on the field, and you may use Revelio once per turn without requiring the Rune of Necessity. The Rune of Cunning, Rune of Secrecy and Rune of Theft are banned from use with this package. Runes in your team’s possession at the end of the game will be added to your team’s inventory.

Fire & Ice Package
Teams using the Fire & Ice Package may place 1 area of lava (3 spaces wide) and 1 area of ice (3 spaces wide) anywhere on the field in between the Keeper Zones. These may be placed at any point on your turn during the first 3 rounds. Lava and ice cannot be placed on top of any character. Your team will be able to use 2 Lakitus per game, and you will be able to hatch and use dragons in the same method as the Fire & Ice expansion.

Buddy Bonus Package
Teams using the Buddy Bonus Package will be randomly given 3 Buddy Bonus pairs and must select 1 to use. You will swap out 2 of your team’s characters for the 2 characters from your chosen Buddy Bonus pair. In addition, your team may take advantage of any class bonuses that apply to all characters on the field (both yours and your opponent’s).

Cool Beans Package
Teams using the Cool Beans Package will be given a special Bertie’s Box prior to the start of the game. The Bertie’s Box will contain 10 random beans, of which 5 will be guaranteed Cool Beans. One bean may be consumed per round throughout the game (must be consumed during your turn). You will not be notified of the colour or flavour of each bean, which will only be determined after selecting which character will receive the bean. Each character may only consume a maximum of 2 beans per game, and modifiers provided by beans do not carry over between games.

Animagus Package
Teams using the Animagus Package will be given the option between 2 randomly chosen animagi prior to the start of the game - you may pick 1 to use for the game, of which you will be immediately able to use all of its highest level skills.

Auctions

There will be a live auction immediately following the Draft Pick, followed by a silent auction. Each will auction off half of the available packages to the highest bidding teams.

In total, there will be enough Expansion Packages for each team to start the tournament with 4 packages each. The order of packages auctioned off in the live auction will be randomised and not disclosed, with bidding taking place in real-time. Depending on the number of teams and packages, the top 1 or 2 bids will win that package. Half of the available packages will be auctioned off in the live auction.

Following the live auction, teams will be able to submit their bids privately for the silent auction through a form. Teams will indicate their maximum bid they would like to place on each package. The remaining packages will be allocated based on the highest bids, taking into account what a team can afford and the remaining packages availability, ensuring that each team ends up with 4 Expansion Packages.

In the event that a team(s) does not obtain 4 packages through the auction, the remaining packages will be randomly distributed to those remaining teams.

Expansion Package Compatibility

There will be some adapted rules in the event of 2 Expansion Packages being in play at the same time:
