Week of March 1
Last week students continued research on their impact projects. Students all pondered how their topic has changed over time. We continued writing and analyzing our persuasive paragraphs. Students use exemplars to rate their writing and set specific goals to improve their next writing piece.
Last week we finished our read aloud “The City of Ember.” It is the first book in a series and ends on a cliffhanger. The second book is called “The People of Sparks” by Jeanne DuPrau. Many kids were interested in continuing the story!
Monday, March 4 - Pajama day and Read-in: Read Across America Week is celebrated from March 2 to 6, beginning on the birthday of author, Dr. Seuss, to encourage the love of reading. On Monday, March 4th students may wear pajamas to school. We will also have a read-in where students will cozy up and read. Each student can bring TWO cozy items (a pillow, blanket, normally sized stuffed animal, etc.), one flashlight or reading light, and several books to read.
Fossil Curiosity kit - The week of March 11th, we will be exploring a Fossil Box from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. This is a Being Here Experience and is live in MySchoolBucks now! Please sign-up your student. The cost is $5.40.

Reminders:
Work when students are absent: If your child is absent and you would like them to be working on something, they can always work on i-Ready Reading and Math Lessons and practice on Xtramath. If they are sick, their priority should be feeling better, so this is not an expectation. We will catch them up on everything else when they return!
Library closed for checkout: Due to the bookfair coming March 7-12, the library will be closed to checking out books until after Spring Break. Students can get books from our classrooms or they may want to bring books from home or the local library.
CMAS testing - April 8 - 12: Please schedule appointments/vacations outside of these dates.
