33 YEARS AS NEW YORK’S ARTISTIC INCUBATOR

Established in 1986, Dixon Place is dedicated to supporting the creative process by presenting original works of theater, dance, performance art, music, literature, puppetry and visual art at all stages of development. Artists and audiences of all stripes and callings are inspired and encouraged to take risks. DP’s foremost priorities are to serve as a safety net for hundreds of artists every year, and to provide vivid experiences that stimulate the imaginations of our audiences.

After starting DP as a salon in her Paris apartment in 1985, Ellie Covan set up shop in her East Village living room. Expanding programs, staff and audience prompted DP to build the professional, state-of-the-art facility you’re sitting in, inspiring experimentation & excellence from the seed of an idea to fully realized productions.

Literally tens of thousands of artists have developed their work here over the last 33 years. Blue Man Group, John Leguizamo, Lisa Kron, David Cale, Holly Hughes, Jim Turner Penny Arcade, Peggy Shaw, Deb Margolin & Reno presented their earliest work at DP. We’re proud to work with extraordinary emerging & established artists; and in recent years, we’ve been honored to present BD Wong, Mac Wellman, Vernon Reid, Justin Vivian Bond, Karen Finley, John Fleck, Kate Clinton, Martha Wainwright, Rodney Crowell & Big Art Group.

Heidi Latsky Dance Company

MAY 3, 4, 9, 10, & 11, 2019 AT 7:30PM

Three dancers express literal and figurative acts of repetition through an immersive sequence of ritualized patterns related to the many connotations of completion, including Latsky’s current interest in death and dying. Whether spanning a linear path or rhythmically pounding on a spot, each section explores different movement styles while integrating the individual characteristics of the dancers – Meredith Fages’s speed and precision, Jerron Herman’s limitless vigor, and Jillian Hollis’s juicy dynamism.

“Heidi Latsky-a choreographer and dancer of uncommon intelligence and fluidity…”  ~The New York Times
