Michelle Jacques-Menegaz is a long-time resident of San Francisco who currently resides in the Richmond District in a home she shares with her two grown children, two cats and two roommates.

An alumni of City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University, Michelle has a BA in Urban Studies, with a focus on Social Justice and Equity. While at SFSU, Michelle had the opportunity to engage in research about the value and viability of Green Collar Jobs, co-edited her department’s journal, and was part of a team that published on the importance and inequitable distribution of green and open space in San Francisco.

Michelle is a proud advocate for families, public education, and social justice, with experience serving on Advisory Boards and School Site Councils at the Preschool, Elementary and Middle School levels. A former PAC member herself, Michelle is excited to be back, supporting the efforts of the Parent Advisory Council and collaborating with other parent leaders, community organizations, and district staff to continue to improve the experience and success of all SFUSD students and families.

Michelle also brings ten years’ experience operating, expanding, and overseeing out-of-school time programs at SFUSD elementary schools in Cole Valley, the Richmond, the Castro, and the Excelsior, and partnering with families, school leadership, and community based organizations like The Richmond Neighborhood Center and the Mission YMCA.

Michelle currently serves on the Board of Directors to Flyaway Productions, a local dance company that tackles issues of social justice, advancing female power in the public realm.

Michelle’s hobbies include cooking, relaxing, reading and watching movies with her kids and cats, taking long walks and hikes in nature, exploring new places, checking out live music, art, and dance, hanging out with friends, disrupting the status quo and shaking up the patriarchy.
