Parents are encouraged not to take their child out of school for vacations.  Vacations are unexcused. When a family vacation must be scheduled during the school year, the parents should discuss the matter with the principal and the student’s teacher(s) to make necessary arrangements.  It may be possible for the student to receive certain assignments that are to be completed during the trip. Vacation request forms can be found online or picked up in the school’s office.

A teacher-initiated code to use for taking attendance in the classroom when a student isn’t physically present.

Illnesses - specify that illnesses are excused only when they are “severe injury or illness too severe for the student to attend class.”  This specificity can help parents from excusing minor illnesses, physical complaints, or things like sleeping in. (How Sick is Too Sick for School)
