Level 1 Horsemanship

Level 1 is for youth students who are new to riding lessons and students in their early stages of riding independently. Sessions focus on learning how to independently control horses at the walk, trot in balance, and learn basics about care-taking, tacking up, and on-ground control. The riding portion includes a high instructor-to-student ratio to help ensure safety and to help new riders advance.

Level 2

Level 2 focuses the riding portion primarily  on trotting – mastering the independent trot on four lesson horses (Western and English) in all three positions at various speeds on the rail.  The un-mounted portion focuses on more independent care-taking and handling skills, including being able to fully care for a horse on the basic level.

Level 3 focuses primarily on introducing and advancing loping, lateral movements, improving seat and hands,  controlling more challenging horses at the trot and executing patterns at the trot.  As loping skills progress, students work toward improved control and expanding the number of horses they can control through all three gaits. Un-mounted time is spent improving on-ground control and on more advanced health / wellness topics.  

Level 4

Mon 4:00 - 5:15

Level 4 focuses on preparing for jumping, improving rail work and executing patterns.  Students work on improving difficult transitions, executing intermediate lateral movements, intermediate patterns and a beginning level of speed and stride control through all three gaits. Un-mounted time is spent advancing lunging skills, working on showmanship and advancing knowledge of complex tack and equipment. This class is by invitation only for advanced riders.

Little Wranglers

 This 50-min group for kids ages 4-8 helps ensure those first horse experiences are safe and positive! It teaches early riding and handling skills as well as providing good, safe, horsey fun. Kids spend time both riding and doing hands-on, unmounted horsemanship activities.

Adults

Adult lessons are split level and include both riding and horsemanship. Sessions focus on learning how to independently control horses at the appropriate gait,  care-taking, tacking up,  ground control, understanding instincts, and building mutual trust.

Therapeutic Riding

Therapeutic Riding is given on an as needed basis. Please contact us for availability.

Our Therapeutic Riding class is for students whose goals meet at least one of the following:

• Improving balance, flexibility, coordination
• Reducing stress and anxiety
• Enhance life by connecting with a horse, riding in a social group and taking pride in having a sport

Therapeutic Riding classes offer one-on-one instruction while integrating students socially in a group riding environment when appropriate.  We cater each students’ lesson plans specifically to their unique needs.  Please note that an intake form and goal assessment is required.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are booked according to instructor, horse and arena availability and are evaluated on a case by case basis. Not everyone who requests private lessons will be able to have one.  We typically wait until after group lesson registration as group sizes affect this availability.  Potential times are listed here.
