Eligibility Requirements for Preschool

To qualify for the state-funded preschool program for Grant County Schools, children must reside in the Grant County School District and meet one of the following requirements set by  the state of Kentucky:

3 year olds

Qualify for the preschool program if they have an identified delay or disability.  A preschool screening would be completed to determine if your child may have a potential delay or if they are developing on track.  If the screening indicates a potential delay your child would be enrolled in our Response to Intervention Program (RTI).  State and Federal legislation requires us to provide interventions and instruction to students who have potential delays before they are evaluated and placed in Special Education (707 Kentucky Administrative Regulation 1:300)  The RTI program consists of the parent bringing the child to the school for a few hours 2 days a week for about 4 - 6 weeks to collect data. If the child has not made significant progress  a meeting will be scheduled to review data and discuss a referral for an evaluation.  Once the evaluation is completed another meeting will be scheduled to review the results and if the student qualifies for special education services the child can then be fully enrolled in preschool.
