GoodGym Mission Prototype
We’ve been working on a prototype to test some ideas in response to feedback we got from runners about missions - you can read more about that here.
The prototype is available to play with but please note that as a prototype it is buggy and incomplete. It is also completely public so be careful with your personal information!
The main idea behind this prototype is to list potential missions on the website. Instead of asking runners to tell us when they’re going to be available (i.e. the Missions Selector slots), we will present when the older person is available for the mission. Runners will be able to browse potential missions on the website, pick times on missions they want to run on, and if enough runners pick the same time the mission can go ahead.
Here’s what a pre-listing might look like for a mission:
A screenshot showing how potential missions might be listed on the website. Runners will be able to read a description of the mission and see it’s location, and then pick the time they’d prefer to do it.
Things to note about these listings:
We’ll start asking runners to set up any locations they want to run missions from, including their postcode and run radius. We will also ask for their general availability for missions, e.g. weekends.
This information will be used to target mission alerts, so runners should no longer get asked to do missions which aren’t possible for them.
Referrers will have access to this information to help them plan referrals with the older person and then suggest to GoodGym time slots to display on the pre-listings.
We will ask runners whether they are happy with missions involving heavy lifting, homes with cats, homes with dogs, smokers’ homes. That way runners can be confident not to be assigned missions they are uncomfortable doing.
The prototype is available to play with, but please note that as a prototype it is buggy and incomplete. It is also completely public so be careful with your personal information.
We believe that by switching to pre-listing missions will improve the process for runners signing up to missions and as a result we will be able to schedule and operate many more.
We are starting to implement these changes on the website. We will be implementing these features bit by bit and rolling them out, but we won’t promote the new approach until we’re happy with it.
The rough timeline is as follows:
Please do have a play with the prototype, and provide any feedback to support@goodgym.org.
