Commission Process
- Email me detailing your project for a quote! Quotes remain valid for six months, securing your rate even if my prices go up;
- Depending on my workload, you may be added to a short queue or sent an invoice immediately once price is finalized. Work begins once payment is fully processed;
- Periodically I may email you to confirm things are going well. Please take a few minutes of your day to review the in-progress piece to locate any errors or missing details. I will not continue until you give the all-clear, giving you as much time as you need to request adjustments;
- Once your commission is complete, you will be emailed a link to a folder containing the full-resolution piece and source files. Please save these files locally as they will not be stored indefinitely. I am not responsible for lost files.
Current Discounts
Most discounts fluctuate and are not automatic; Please contact me for details.
- Patron Discount - If you are a current Patron (patreon.com/faranae), your monthly pledge acts as a discount allowance that refreshes every month.
- Familiar Faces - Any commission involving a character design purchased/adopted from me (or certain other artists*) may be eligible for a discount percentage based on the original purchase price.
- Fantastic References - A small “thank you” from me to you for providing thorough references, be they artistic or image search collages.
*This discount partially exists to encourage y’all to check out the great adoptable offerings of my friends and family! Currently willing to partially-discount commissions involving adopts purchased from: Spud, Moon, and Tobi.
Content Use/Consent Policies
- All commissioned work is yours to use in any non-commercial/non-profit way you see fit, however I maintain rights to the artwork itself unless otherwise discussed.
- As I do document owners for discount purposes, I do not permit the re-sale or “basing” of adopted character designs.
- Art commissions are strictly digital unless otherwise discussed.
- With all commissions I by default reserve the right to post them to my personal portfolios on websites or social media.
- If you would like your commission to remain secret due to it being a gift or some other circumstance, or if you would prefer it remain unposted entirely, please contact me ahead of time to discuss!
- I require consent of all parties for artwork involving real people.*
- I require consent of all parties for ship/intimate/NSFW art between privately-owned original characters.**
Upgrade Policy
Sketches > Cleaning > Flats/Colors
Upgrade your art to a higher level of completion at a later date! Price on a case-by-case basis. Just send me the source image and ask for a quote.
I will upgrade pieces from other artists with written consent from all parties involved. Please obtain written permission* from the original artist, and if applicable the commissioner before contacting me about an upgrade. No exceptions.*
*For most permission/consent, links to permission-granting posts or documents/policies are also acceptable. Posts canonizing private OC relations are acceptable consent for ship art, but additional consent may be required for work involving NSFW content if it is not explicitly permitted by the owner(s).
**Original Characters are an extension of the artist who created them. Please respect the wishes and comfort of creators by asking before shipping OCs. <3
Taxes and Tipping
I no longer apply taxes to my commission prices. However:
As a freelancer I have several expenses that dig into any income I have. Paypal transfer fees and income taxes are the most severe of these. Here in Ontario I am taxed on all income on the federal (15%) and provincial (5.05%) levels*. This means that 20.05% of my commission income goes directly to the government.
If you enjoy my work and wish to throw a little something extra my way, there is an option to tip included on all invoices I send out. Alternatively, I have a Ko-Fi and Patreon if you want to support me financially.
