Dear Hillcrest Families,

Summer vacation is quickly drawing to a close and a new school year is just around the corner! We hope your student had a great summer and is ready for school to begin on Monday, August 22nd. Our goals are to provide a safe environment and academically challenging curriculum, to involve students in extracurricular activities, and to build positive relationships within the Northside community. It is my hope you’ll find this letter informative and useful as you prepare your child for the 2022-23 school year.

I am excited to share about a back-to-school celebration for students on Thursday, August 18th at 7:30 p.m. on the football field.  This event, Unite on The Hill, is an evening for our student body to unite and celebrate the start of the school year.  This event is immediately following the Freshman Academy Orientation.  We plan to have music, games, and other activities to kick off the year together, because we believe that We>Me and we are stronger UNITED!

As I am sure you are aware, Hillcrest continues to undergo major construction.  This project, when complete, is going to make Hillcrest one of the most amazing high school facilities in the region.  The Hill has already undergone significant renovations in the last year and a half.  Currently, we are working on the new east wing which will be home to 29 new classrooms and 3 brand new performing arts classrooms.  Despite the construction, drop off/pick up will be the same as last year, you will enter Hillcrest from Grant Ave. and drop off/pick up at the main entrance. Buses drop off/pick up in the north parking lot. Please note, that doors will not open for students until 7:40 am.

Schedules will become available to students beginning August 11th on Home Access Center.  Through this portal, you will access your student’s demographic information in our district database. Please plan to update this information prior to August 11th. Once updated, a notification will be sent to Hillcrest and upon receipt of this notification, we will finalize the corrections and your student’s account will be active for the 2022-2023 school year. If any of this information should change throughout the year, please make all updates by using the HAC or calling Hillcrest and letting an office staff member know. Please note, that if you have a change of address, proof of residency must be physically brought to the school.

Additionally, the following forms MUST be completed if you have a 9th or 12th-grade student and should be accessed through our school website at www.sps.org/hillcrest.

These forms may be filled out online and emailed to Shay Young at seyoung@spsmail.org or printed and mailed or brought to Hillcrest High School.
