Uniform Policy for Saint Raphael Catholic School

2018-2019 School Year

 

Our school uniform is supplied exclusively by Flynn O’Hara.  

Girls K-2

Dress school uniform, including Mass days:  plaid jumper, white Peter Pan collar blouse (long or short sleeve). Hemline must be no more than two inches above the knee.

 

Shoes:  plain brown, tan, or black dress shoes (hiking, canvas, or athletic shoes are not dress shoes).

 

Socks:  plain white or black socks or tights; minimum above ankle-length for socks. No logos are permitted on socks.

 

Thanksgiving - February 28: ankle-length, solid black leggings only (no lace, trim or shiny material) are permitted with plaid jumper.

 

Outerwear:  hunter green sweater or hunter green fleece jacket with school logo. Only Saint Raphael uniform-issued sweaters or fleeces are permitted during the school day, including during recess.

 

Girls 3-8

Regular school uniform, including Mass days:  plaid skirt, white or hunter green polo with school logo. Skirt must be no more than 2 inches above the knee.

 

Shoes:  plain brown, tan, or black dress shoes (hiking, canvas, or athletic shoes are not dress shoes).

 

Socks:  plain white or black socks or tights; minimum above ankle-length for socks. No logos are permitted on socks.

Boys K-8

Regular school uniform, including Mass days:  white or hunter green polo shirt with school logo.

 

Uniform khaki shorts are allowed between August 16 to Thanksgiving Break and again March 1 – May 31.

 

Uniform khaki pants MUST be worn between Thanksgiving Break – February 28.

 

Shoes:  plain brown, tan, or black dress shoes (hiking, canvas, or athletic shoes are not dress shoes.)

 

Socks:  plain white or black socks; minimum above ankle-length for socks. No logos are permitted on socks.

 

Belt:  plain brown, tan, or black belt only. Specialty belts with alternative logos or designs are not allowed. (no belt required for kindergarten students).

 

Outerwear:  hunter green sweater or hunter green fleece jacket with school logo. Only Saint Raphael uniform-issued sweaters or fleeces are permitted during the school day, including during recess. Coats are not part of the school uniform and can be worn outdoors.

 

Only Saint Raphael uniform black sweater or black fleece jacket with school logo (for grades 6-8 only).

PE Uniform Guidelines for Saint Raphael Catholic School 2018-19 School Year

 

Uniform-issued P.E. Uniform for All Students

Gray athletic t-shirt with school logo.

Hunter green shorts or nylon pants with school logo.

Plain white, black, or hunter green socks (athletic sports team or logo socks are not permitted).

Athletic shoes (low or high-top Converse, or lightweight tennis shoes are not permitted, including Vans type shoes).

 

Other PE day options:

Uniform-issued white piping warm-up jacket and pants.

 

Girls:

Thanksgiving Break - February 28: ankle-length, solid black leggings only (no lace, trim or shiny material) are permitted under PE shorts.

 

Non-Uniform Dress Code

Special dress down days are held during the year.  Parents will receive information regarding these days.  The non-uniform dress code detailed below must be followed:

 

All attire must be clean and free of rips, tears, holes, tatters, and fringe.

Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be no more than two inches above the knee.

Tight-fitting pants are not allowed. Leggings are not permitted to be worn as pants.

Shirts may not have vulgar, insinuating, or otherwise offensive wording or pictures, or reflect ideas that are not in line with Catholic teaching and morals.  

Shirts must have sleeves.

 

Shirts must cover midriff and must not reveal cleavage.

Shoes must have closed toes and heels may not be higher than 1 ½”

Socks must be worn.

Tight fitting or excessively baggy clothing is not allowed.

Makeup and nail polish are not permitted.  

Jewelry requirements remain the same as uniform days.

 

Jewelry/Accessories

One simple wristwatch (No fitness trackers or smart watches or similar-styled watches; SmartWatches fall under technology).

Single necklace with a small ornament.

Girls may wear one set of stud earrings; nothing dangling, looped, or chained.  Boys may not wear earrings.

Hair accessories, including hair ties, bows, bands, barrettes, and clips must be uniform plaid or plain school colors (green, red, black, and white).

No makeup or nail polish is allowed.

 

Additional Information Regarding the Dress Code

The administration of Saint Raphael Catholic School reserves the right to determine whether or not a student’s clothing or uniform is appropriate. Students wearing inappropriate clothing will be removed from class and the parent will be called.  A change of clothing will be required for the student to be permitted to return to class.  Accommodations for missed work will not be made.

 

The uniform is to be kept neat and clean, free of rips or tears, and fit properly. The uniform shirt is to be tucked-in at all times. All polo shirts must have the school logo.

 

Hair must be neat and out of the eyes. Boys’ hair must be cut and not touch the collar of the shirt. Ponytails, mohawks, and other excessive haircuts are not permitted. Administration reserves the right to determine inappropriate haircuts and hair color. Natural hair color only. Hair must not be dyed.

 

Makeup and nail polish are not permitted.
