Integrating Career Competencies (handout)

Tillotson Room

Facilitators:

  • Brian Collingwood (Executive Director of the Center for Career and Professional Development)
  • Jim Fitch (Associate Director of Career Exploration and Director of Career Education)
  • Briana Lewis (Associate Professor of French)

Description. Our students increasingly seek to understand the direct career benefits of the courses they take in college and, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), they look to faculty for career guidance. By highlighting the NACE Career Competencies that students are already building in courses, faculty can guide students to think at a higher level about how classes prepare them for careers. We will briefly describe the NACE competencies and then provide examples of how faculty are already integrating them into classes.
