Contentment Unfriends Commitment

Amos

Amos 4

What did God really want this whole time?

Amos goes below the surface to get at the real issue.

 Discovery Questions

Self-reflection:

Read Amos 4. How are my loyalties divided?

With your family:

When disciplining your kids, connect discipline to what you really want for them (more than just good behavior). Then explain how God wants this, too.

With your small group:

  1. Read Amos 4.
  2. What stands out to you in these verses? Why?
  3. What bothers you about these verses? Why?
  4. Discuss the self-reflection question above.
  5. How is the Holy Spirit prompting me to deeper loyalty?
  6. In what ways do I seek contentment in the world that unfriends commitment?
  7. What in my life makes meeting God an awkward reunion?
  8. Given this passage, what should you do this week?
