ERNEST GALLET JOB FAIR: INFORMATIONAL LETTER (4TH - 5TH ONLY)

Parents of 4th-5th grade students:

        Our job as educators is to ensure that your child is responsible and is prepared for their future.  Part of being prepared for the future is having a job; therefore, students will be applying and taking part in a Job Fair Interview to acquire a school leadership job.

School Leadership Job Process: 

  1. Review the “Description of School Leadership Jobs” attached.
  2. Students choose a job that interests them.
  3. Fill out the permission slip/ job application attached and return it to your student’s homeroom teacher by Wednesday, August 30th. (NO EXCEPTIONS) 
  4. Students will participate in a Job Fair where they will interview for the position they are applying for.
  5. NOT ALL STUDENTS THAT INTERVIEW WILL BE AWARDED A JOB.
  6. Interview questions attached are yours to keep and should be used to practice for their interview.
  7. Job Fair Interviews will be held on Wednesday, September 6th. Students should DRESS TO IMPRESS FOR THEIR INTERVIEW.
  8. Mrs. Chargois will announce students awarded Leadership Jobs on Thursday, September 7th.
  9. Students will be trained during the school day on Friday, September 8th (No early drop off)
  10. Jobs will begin on Monday, September 11th. (Parents will be contacted with the early drop-off procedure on Friday, September 8th.)

DESCRIPTION OF SCHOOL LEADERSHIP JOBS- DO NOT RETURN

Student Leadership Positions - (Job Descriptions and Qualifications)

Patriotic Supervisor (2 students) one person to raise the flag in the morning and one person to lower the flag in the afternoon

Job Description/Qualifications:

*flag raiser must arrive at school at 7:15 am

*responsible for reporting daily

*respectful to adults

School Journalist (6 students)

Job Description:

*presents the morning announcements with enthusiasm

*must have the ability to read fluently and speak clearly

Job Qualifications:

*arrive at 7:15 am

*excellent speaker

*outgoing personality

*great reader (reads fluently)

*creative

*outstanding discipline

Student Representative (2 students)

Job Description:

*greets students in the morning during arrival

*report to teachers on duty near car rider entrance and bus rider entrance

Job Qualifications:

*arrive by 7:15 am

*Responsible and prompt

*Public speaking

*outgoing personality

Breakfast Technician (4 students) - 2 for East wing and 2 for West wing

Job Description:

*assist cafeteria staff with breakfast cart

*helps hand out bagged breakfast to students

*help students locate meal cards attached to backpacks.

Job Qualifications:

*arrive at 7:15 am

*helpful and respectful to adults

*assist younger students requiring assistance in the hallway

*excellent behavior record

Point Club Tag Delivery (2)  **one student for the West wing and one for the East wing

Job Description:

*deliver AR point club tags to teacher mailboxes on Tuesday mornings

Job Qualifications:

*organization skills

*knows their way around the school and can read (match) teacher envelopes with mailboxes

Library Coordinators  (7 students)

Job Description:

*Assist the librarian in returning books to their appropriate place on the bookshelves

Job Qualifications:

*arrives at school at 7:15 am to assist in library

*assist with library duties during recess and as needed

*ability to place things in alphabetical order/color code

*organizational skills

* must be a student who consistently meets their own AR goals

Reading Specialist (16 students)

Job Description:

*Assist kindergarten, 1st-grade, and 2nd-grade students with AR reading, AR testing procedures, and classroom book selection procedures

*assist students in learning to record all AR test information in their library folder.

Job Qualifications:

*arrives at school at 7:15 am to assist in classrooms

*must be a student who consistently meets their own AR goals

*must know how to record AR information correctly in the AR folder

*must be responsible and prompt
