E-book Use Policy

Mission Statement:

Bonne Terre Memorial Library uses E-Books as an information resource and provides access, with limitations, to its patrons. Users may use E-books for research and the acquisition of information to address their educational, vocational, cultural, and recreational needs.


Users should be aware that electronic information resources are not the responsibility of the Bonne Terre Memorial Library or Overdrive Media. The user will be held responsible for his/her actions using E-books. Users are expected to abide by the policies below. Unacceptable uses of the service will result in the suspension or revocation of privileges.

Access by Minors:

Access to the E-Books is available to all patrons via provided by Overdrive Media. Parents or legal guardians must assume responsibility for deciding which library resources are appropriate for their own children.

Acceptable Use Guidelines:

E-books are for patrons in good standing only. A valid library card is required and it must not be expired. You must also have no overdue books or unpaid fines over $5.00.

If you need to access the internet to download E-books Internet use is offered in one-hour sessions on a first-come, first-served basis with a valid library card and a signed C-IUP or you may access the WIFI on your own device.

Files may not be saved on the libraries hard drive and accessing e-books on our computer is for selection only. All downloading must take place on your own device.

Disclaimer: The Library reserves the right to take measures to ensure compliance with this policy including but, not limited to barring access to e-books and or possible loss of library privileges due to misuse. The Library cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss of property due to the use of e books, Molib2GO's website or Overdrive Media's applications. The Library accepts no responsibility for damage to patron's storage media, e-readers, tablets, equipment or devices. BTML does not warrant or guarantee that all content accessed via overdrive media or Molib2Go is appropriate for children and could possibly be deemed offensive to some. The user maintains responsibility for limiting access to their children as they see fit and readers beware, just as with picking up an actual book in the library, not all materials appeal to all readers.
