1. Imagine yourself as a young soldier, ready to serve on the Western Front.  You signed up for the war, eager and excited to be going.  Now you are writing a letter to your best friend describing what the war is really like.  Use your imagination. Did you think war would be exciting? What is it really like?  What is it like to serve in the trenches?  Do you miss your family?  What do you feel or think about while you are in the trenches? (At least one full page set up as a friendly letter)

2. Imagine yourself as a young soldier, serving on the Western Front.  Create a poster on how to survive life in the trenches for new recruits who have never served in the trenches before. It should have pictures and words. What should they look out for? What do you wish someone would have told you before you went to serve in the trenches? (One 11 x 17 inch piece of paper, with color)

OR

3. Imagine that you are to give a presentation to the top generals on life in the trenches. Create a chart with the main problems that the men in the trenches are facing along with possible solutions on how to fix the problem and how to keep their spirits up. What are the main problems they face? What are possible solutions? (One 11 x 17 inch piece of paper, with a chart that explains all of the above)
