Fly South Course Description

ASL (American Sign Language) with Mrs. McInnes Students will learn some basic sign language skills such as alphabet, numbers, days of the week, colors, songs, useful words and phrases etc. Happy signing!! 

Awesome Athletes Challenge gross motor skills while promoting cooperation and good sportsmanship. Always a big success!

Beginners Chess Mrs. Lincoln is our school nurse and enjoys playing chess. Chess is an excellent game for students. It teaches them strategic thinking, logic and it's fun, too!  In this class, your children will learn the basics about the game of chess, the chess pieces and rules of the game. 

Clay Creations Yoga for the hands and mind. Students will create fun projects with different kinds of clay and crafts.

Great way to make new friends and improve some fine motor skills.

Crazy for Computers Mrs. Kerr will help improve computer literacy skills by giving students access to many of the computer lab applications they enjoy during the school year.

Friendship Bracelets Make various types of bracelets using beads, woven patterns. Give away to a friend, while learning the hobbies and interest of the friends in the group.

“Frozen” Crafts Make snowflakes, snowmen, snowballs, “Frozen” inspired crafts.

Games with Ms. Cannon are not “bored” games. They are board games that practice math, literacy, social skills and fun! Play games while focusing on the skills necessary to create and maintain relationships. Any direct instruction/lessons will be based on The Social Thinking Curriculum created by Michelle Garcia Winner. Come join the social fun on Tuesdays and make plans for your weekends with the friends you make!

Master Builders Students will work with Ms. McInnes to increase their fine motor dexterity through tactile activities of building with legos, magnatiles, and marble run.

Nutrition Detectives Let’s investigate what’s on our plate.  Students will learn about the “MyPlate” way to making healthy meals. We will explore the 5 food groups, ways to make healthy, nutritious snack choices and how to read food labels. (A small healthy (allergy safe) snack may be served during one of the classes that meets the needs of the class).

STEAM - TEAM Katelyn Murray a former South Elementary student is working on her Gold Scout award by offering a STEAM - TEAM course highlighting the achievements of women in science. Recycled materials will be used for projects.

Winter Painting & Designs with Textures - If you like being creative, come design artwork using paint, crafts, cray paas, stencils and have fun with friends!
