Philosophy and Goals
My goal is to provide a safe, healthy and loving environment for your child to learn and grow. In this atmosphere I will provide a positive learning environment with inspiring activities where your children will enjoy learning at their individual pace.
I believe each experience a child is exposed to is a learning experience in itself. I encourage each child to reach their fullest potential. I believe children learn through hands - on experiences through their involvement in age appropriate activities.
I look forward to getting to know your child and building a special relationship with your family. I am here to support your family by giving your child love, affection, and guidance while you are away.
Just a few things to get us started:
- Open communication: This is my number one “rule” of Lindsey’s Littles Daycare. I need all of the information to make your child’s transition here as smooth as possible. You can’t give me too much information.
- Tips and tricks for nap time: swaddling, binki, white noise, etc.
- Health: How did your kids feel over the weekend? Did they spike a fever? Please let me know this the night before daycare.
- Eating habits: likes/dislikes
- Behaviors and how you address them and work through them at home.
- I plan to communicate thoroughly about how your child did that day so you will know what to expect when they go home. I expect you to do the same when they are dropped off. For example, if your child did not sleep well the night before, I will know to expect a tired kid and therefore I will probably put them down for a nap earlier.
- If your child has a rash or bumps and bruises please let me know so we can keep an eye on them together.
- At the end of the day I will give you the rundown on the day and report anything that I feel is important. If I forget something (which I might) I will text you as soon as I remember.
- If you plan to pick your child up early or if they have an appointment, text me on your way. I will have your child ready so there isn’t any disruption of the flow of our day.
- Something I also care deeply about is having good communication with your child. I plan to do this by teaching a lot of sign language as well as speaking to your child like an adult. If I know what your child wants, this will make all of our lives easier. Consistency is important. I will tell you what I am working on with your child so therefore you can continue this communication at home. I am big on manners. Saying or signing “please” and “ thank you” is a good start.
- Here are some signs that we will use frequently at the daycare:
- Please, Thank you, Eat, More, Milk, All Done, Help.
- We also work on speaking in Spanish in our daily circle time. We count in Spanish and we say all of our colors in spanish.
I appreciate you keeping open communication with me. If there are any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to ask. I would love to have a conversation with you so we can smooth out all of the bumps.
Hours of Operation
Monday - Thursday: 7:00am-5:30pm
Friday’s: 7:00am- 12:00 pm (noon)
Hours of care are not necessarily my hours of operation. Each family will have contracted hours for care. Late pick up will result in a late fee of $1 per minute for the first 10 minutes, beyond that a $30 fee will be automatically added. This late charge will be waived in case of emergency in which I am contacted prior to 5:30pm. Closed all major holidays, additional closure dates will be posted in advance.
Enrollment Requirements:
- Current immunization records
- Statement of health for children under age 2
- Intake interview held with primary caregiver
- Signed childcare contract
- Emergency contact and parental consent form
FEES
Centerville and Great Falls rates posted on the Lindsey’s Littles Daycare website, www.lindseyslittlesdaycare.com
*These rates include the cost of meals/snacks each day, wipes, and our preschool program. These rates can change. Every year we will reevaluate the cost of daycare and let you know of increases 1 month prior to the change. These rates can change 1-2 times per year if needed.
Drop in Care (1-2 days per week)
- $45.00 per Day
- $25.00 up to 4 hours in one day (thereafter is a full-time rate)
- These fees are due regardless if your child is in attendance or not. You are paying for a contracted spot for your child. I require payments to be made on the contracted days. Prepayment is required and all payments are due the first day of each month or the Friday before if the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday unless other arrangements are made in advance. If the choice is to make bi-weekly payments, those are due on the 1st and 15th of each month.
- If payment is past two days late, so no payment by the end of the night on the 2nd and 16th then your child will not be accepted to daycare on that third day of late payment (on the 3rd & 17th).
- Checks may be made payable to: Lindsey Prosser
- Payments will be made through the Brightwheel billing app where I will set up a bill plan for each child in daycare. Bank accounts must be set up and verified before payments will process, credit cards aren't accepted.
Vacation/ Sick Days:
- I will take up to 10 paid days (may be personal, sick, vacation) per year. These are included in your flat monthly fee. If an unexpected illness in the daycare causes forced closure, these days won’t count toward our 10 days off. I will provide a 2 week notice on additional vacation days. Your child care payments are made to hold your child’s spot in care. Therefore, your payments include: vacation (yours or mine), your sick days, or any other missed days by either party.

*These days may change each year depending on what day the holiday falls on. We will let you know in advance if we are changing the days we take off. Holiday’s aren’t included in our 10 days we may take off every year.
Termination Policy
- I reserve the right to terminate care at any time. Parents are required to provide a two weeks written notice when you will be ending care. A prior conversation is also welcome but not required if you are considering taking your child out of daycare. Payment for those two weeks must accompany the notice.
Absences & Vacations
- All planned absences must be given to the primary caregiver in advance. A call or text in the morning is appreciated if your child becomes ill and will not be attending care. These days are still paid.
- Advance notice is appreciated. All vacation days are paid, yours and mine (up to 10 days for the provider).
Closures
- YOU are responsible for always having a back-up provider/plan. You will always be given a minimum of 2 weeks notice of any planned days of closure. However, there is the chance that one of us or our babies may become ill and may need to close at the last minute. It is your responsibility to have an alternate plan in the case we are to close last minute. I will always notify families by 6am if one of us were to become ill. I apologize for this inconvenience, however with us being a small facility, we do not always have the option of a substitute provider. Before I make this decision, know that I have used all resources I can to find a substitute for the day.
Attendance records
- Children will be signed in and out daily by parents on the Ipad Kiosk. This is mandatory!
Authorization to pick up
- If your child is being picked up by someone other than the parents, I will ask for identification. If the person does not have identification, I will refuse to release your child. A face-to-face conversation or phone call (by guardian) will be mandatory before I release the child.
Releasing children in my care
- If I suspect the adult picking up the child may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, I will ask the adult, if they are adamant on taking their child, I will call the police.
- I am a mandatory reporter. If the adult does not have the proper car seat or seatbelt for their child, I will call the child abuse hotline and 911. This is for the safety of your child. If I witness the improper restraint, you do have the option to leave your child, pick up the proper restraint and return for your child.
CHILD CARE SCHOLARSHIP
I encourage all families to apply for Best Beginnings Child Care Scholarships. These scholarships from the Montana Dept. of Public Health and Human Services can help you pay for child care. To get more information, please contact Family Connections at 761-6010. If you receive a Best Beginnings Scholarship, it is your responsibility to renew your contract on a timely basis or you may lose this scholarship. You will be responsible for all child care costs if your scholarship is not renewed.
Check Policy
- A service charge of $30 will be assessed for each returned check. If there is a returned check you will be required to pay by cash in the amount of the check returned. You will also be required to pay with cash for all care provided in the future.
Immunization Policy
- It is the responsibility of the parent to keep the child’s immunization record current. You are encouraged to take the immunization form with you to doctor visits to be updated; you must return the updated form prior to your child’s return to care.
***Sick Policy: Be Mindful of other Families
- I ask before you send your child to daycare, are they healthy enough to be here? Would you be upset if another parent sent their sick kid who then in turn got your kid sick?
- Keeping your child home for one day, to verify illness, is better than us having to close daycare for a week due to too many sick kids. Also forcing 15 families out of work for a week.
- So I ask that you put yourself in the other parents shoes before you send your sick kid to daycare.
Illness Policy- Main Points:
- We follow the City County Health Department Daycare Illness Policy. Please adhere to these guidelines and do not send your child if they are ill. Children must be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT fever reducing medication before returning.
- If your child becomes ill during the day, you will be notified to pick up your child within 30 minutes.
- Your child may be isolated from other children if necessary.
- Keep me in the loop: Please let me know if your child becomes sick over the weekend before they return to daycare. If we have had multiple kids who have had fevers over the weekend then daycare most likely has a bug going around that is more serious than a common cold.
- Siblings: If one sibling is sent home sick or stays home sick then the other kid must also stay home. This helps prevent the spreading of the illness that may be in the dormant phase.
- Children must be without vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours before they return to the facility. Vomiting includes 2 or more episodes in the previous 24 hours. Diarrhea is defined as an increased number of stools, increased water in the stool, and/or decreased form to the stool that cannot be contained by a diaper or clothing.
- Children with contagious illness may not attend care until the contagious period has passed. If a child should become ill while in my care, I will contact the parent and keep the child comfortable until you arrive to sign your child out. If your child becomes ill and will not be attending on a regularly scheduled day, please call and inform me as soon as possible. If your child requires care by a physician, a note from that physician noting a safe return to care may be needed. If your child is on antibiotics, he/she remains contagious for 24 hours after the first dose of medication and cannot return to childcare until this time period has passed.
*I have the right to refuse to care for a sick child.
Illness Policy
- Children must be without fever of 101ºF or greater for 24 hours before they return.
- Children with any of the bacterial infections listed below must be treated with antibiotics for 24 hours before they return: Strep throat; Scarlet fever; Impetigo; Bacterial conjunctivitis (pinkeye); and Skin infections such as draining burn or infected wounds/hangnails; Generalized rashes, including those covering multiple parts of the body, must be evaluated by a health care provider to determine their cause before the child can return to the day care facility.
- Children with chickenpox may not be admitted to the facility until their sores dry up, which usually takes 5 to 7 days. Children who are jaundiced must be excluded until a health care provider evaluates the cause and authorizes the child to return.
- Children with symptoms of severe illness, such as uncontrolled coughing, breathing difficulty or wheezing, stiff neck, irritability, poor food or fluid intake, or a seizure, must be evaluated by a health care provider before they may return to the day care facility.
- A child need not be excluded for a discharge from the nose which is not accompanied by a fever.
Prescriptions/Over The Counter:
- Before giving any medication, over the counter or prescription, we will contact one of the parents before administering.
- All prescription meds must be in the original container, with your child’s name on it. Any over the counter meds must be labeled with your child’s name. A Non-ingestible Over the Counter Medication Authorization Form for items such as diaper rash cream, insect repellant, sunscreen, etc. must also be signed and on file if these items are administered.
- If your child needs medication while in my care, there is paperwork that must be filled out prior to me dispensing it. Child Care regulations prohibit us from giving your child medication of any kind unless you have filled out and signed a Medication Authorization Form.
Appointments:
- Please try to schedule appointments for immunizations at the end of the week and/or in the afternoon. We ask this because some children have a difficult time after immunizations including fevers and discomfort.
- If your child receives immunizations, please ask your providers for a copy for our records. We are required by licensing to have current immunizations on hand for each child.
HAND FOOT & MOUTH POLICY
HFM is mostly spread through droplets (saliva) that is very easily spread. Many kids' first symptom is a fever. Sores usually will be on or in the mouth, hands, feet, groin. They aren’t limited to a certain part of the body, they can be found anywhere.
- RETURN: Kids may return to daycare when they are fever free for 24 hours without any fever reducing medication and sores must be scabbed over and in the healing phase.
COVID POLICY
We will follow the CDC health departments regulations.
- This policy is based on the guidance of the CDC guidelines along with my discretion.
- A negative covid test may be required to return to daycare.
- My goal is to keep everyone healthy and safe at daycare. Please help me do this by not bringing your child to daycare if they are sick.
- At the end of the day, it is my decision if I feel your child is too sick to be at daycare. These are hard decisions to make but I do have everyone's best interest in mind.
- Please keep me in the loop about your child’s progress when they are at home sick with you.
- If there are any other questions about the Covid policy please feel free to reach out to me.
Medication Administration Policy
Lindsey’s Littles (revised July 2024)
I, Lindsey Prosser and Krysta Herigon, will personally administer all necessary medications to the children in my care.
Medication should be given when needed, in the safest possible way for the child, parent, and provider. Administering medication is based on parent consent and the child’s health care provider’s recommendations. I will only administer medication that must be given at times when the parent’s work schedule prevents them from giving it. Parents will be contacted before medication is administered.
Prescription and non-prescription medications will only be administered with the parent’s consent on the “medication administration authorization” form provided. The child’s health care provider must also provide a prescription or written recommendation for a medication to be given to the specific child. If the child is under age 2 dosing recommendation is also required from the health care provider.
All prescription medications must be in the original child proof container labeled by the pharmacist which includes the child’s name, date prescription was filled, healthcare provider who prescribed medication, expiration date, as well as dosing, storage and disposal instructions.
All non-prescription (OTC) medications must be in their original container and must be labeled with the child’s full name, directions for administering and storing the medication, as well as the health care provider's name and written recommendation for use.
A medication log will be kept for each child. A parental signature will be required for each medication and also a prescription or health care provider's written recommendation. This log will indicate the type of medication administered, the dosage, when administered, by whom, and any adverse reactions will be recorded and the parent will also be notified of reaction immediately. This log will remain a part of the child’s health record and is available to the parent at any time.
In the case of a recurring health problem or chronic condition, if a health care provider recommends that a certain medication should be given to a child, the following information must accompany that medication: child’s full name, name of medication, dosage for that child, how often medication can be given, conditions for use and any precautions to follow.
Medications will be stored at the recommended temperature, in a child proof container, in a place inaccessible to children. Medication will be administered in the area where it is stored.
Expired medication will be disposed of in the recommended manner.
I will not provide or stock any medication. All medications administered will be provided by the parent for their own child.
Any medication errors or incidents will be documented and reported to the parent immediately.
It is the responsibility of the parent to provide medications your child may need. If a medication has reached its expiration date it will be returned to the parent for proper disposal.
For children with recurring health conditions that require daily administration of medication or use of emergency medications by staff, parents will be asked to complete a “special needs health care plan” or “emergency health care plan”. Parents or health care providers must also train staff in administering of any medications which require special techniques or equipment to administer. (i.e. nebulizer, epi pen, etc.)
Parents will be notified if their child suffers any side effects from the medication or if a medication error/incident occurred. A medication error/incident report will be completed by the staff person administering medication and also signed by the director. If an adverse effect or serious allergic reaction, staff will call 911 if the child is in distress.
Parents will be provided a copy of this policy upon enrolling their child in my program. If medication is brought with the child, I will provide a consent form for the parent to sign. If the parent refuses to sign or fails to provide the health care providers prescription or recommendation, the medication will not be administered.
This policy will be reviewed yearly in January and changed where needed according to state licensing or the county health department.
Reference: this policy was created with the aid of ‘California Child Care Health Advocacy Program’ and the state of Montana Dept. of Health and Human Services guidelines
Policy effective January 1, 2014
Policy will be reviewed and revised if needed yearly on its implementation date.
Lindsey’s Littles Daycare
First Aid Policies
In case of accident, injury or other event requiring medical attention the following actions will be taken.
In case of minor injury; which may include cuts, scrapes, bumps or bruises; first aid will be administered on site by the caregiver. This may include cleaning the wound, applying ice, application of antibacterial ointment, and sterile covering if needed.
In case of more serious injury; which may include deep cuts, injuries to the head which cause swelling, uncontrollable bleeding from the nose; first aid will be administered by the caregiver and the parent will be contacted to determine whether further medical attention is needed.
In case of severe injury or incident; which may include broken bones, seizures, severe allergic reactions, or loss of consciousness; the caregiver will call 911 and request emergency services. The parents will be notified immediately, and the caregiver will make every attempt to find substitute care in order to accompany the child to the hospital if necessary.
In case of suspected consumption or contact with poison, the caregiver will contact poison control and follow the directions given for treatment. The parent will be contacted immediately.
All caregivers are trained in CPR and First aid and will administer as needed.
All injuries or incidents (with the exception of minor injuries) will be recorded and kept on file.
Meal Service
- We are a member of the Child and Adult Care Food Program. We serve breakfast, lunch and 1 snack per day at no additional charge to all children. The foods served are chosen to meet the nutritional needs of growing children. You are welcome to bring treats for your child’s special days but please consider healthy alternatives to meet the nutritional needs of the children. If your child has special dietary needs, please make them known prior to entry into care. We are an equal opportunity employer.
Infant Care
- Breastfeeding is encouraged and necessary accommodations will be made to allow for the comfort of both mother and child during feedings. If a mother is unable to come to the facility to feed, breast milk may be provided for bottle feeding by the caregiver.
Safe Sleep Policy: Main Points
- All infants and children will be placed on their back with a tight fitted sheet on a firm mattress.
- Toddlers will be provided with a sleeping bag and pillow for nap time. Personal blankets or lovey’s can be brought from home.
- Baby monitors are used along with frequent rounding on the kiddo’s.
Emergency Evacuation
- Please see our emergency preparedness plan which is available for all families to review at any time.
- Should an emergency occur requiring us to leave the premises, your child will be transferred to The Luse’s home (neighbor) or Skyline Park. I will then contact you from that location to arrange for the pick-up of your child.
Emergency Preparedness Plan
Emergency Closure Plan
- If inclement weather, natural disaster or other unforeseeable event forces the closure of public schools in Great Falls, I will also close my facility for the safety of the children. I will notify all families by phone by 6:30 am on the date of closure. I will continue to monitor the situation and contact families immediately when I am able to re-open.
- If I must close after the facility has opened for the day, the above criteria will be used to determine the need for closure, but may also include loss of heat during winter months due to prolonged power outage. I will phone parents immediately when the decision is made to close and will reopen when heat is restored or travel is safe.
Fire Drill Procedure:
- We have monthly fire drills. The children are instructed to go outside in the front of the house with an adult until everyone is outside. If there is a fire, the children will be moved to safety and the fire department will be called. During a tornado warning, all children will be taken to the laundry room and they will be provided a blanket to cover with. We will all remain there until it is safe to return to the child care area.
Guidance Policy/ Discipline Policy
Lindsey’s Little’s Daycare will be following a 3 step disciplinary plan.
- Redirection: The child will be redirected to another area of play where they hopefully can play appropriately. We also encourage the kids to “use their words” and let us know what the problem is. We also want the kids to try and work out the problem by themselves with of course a little guidance from the providers.
- Communication: if this child continues to cause problems, they will be talked to and redirected into yet another play area. We will continue to encourage the kids to use their words and share with their friends. Saying “ no thank you” and “may I please have my toy back” is what we are encouraging the kids to say. The hope at this point is to not have to take step number three and be put into a quiet area/ quiet time.
- Quiet Area: This is the final step I will be taking for disciplinary action. We have a quiet spot in the daycare that contains books. This is a place for your child to sit and cool down. Relax the mind and body and think about their actions. The children are allowed to read quietly. Our quiet area is not timed. I don’t believe having a timed quiet time is beneficial for their development. I believe that when they feel they are relaxed and ready to talk about their actions they can talk to Krysta or myself before they continue playing.
Caregiver Responsibilities
My primary responsibility is to provide the highest quality of care for the children in my facility. I am also responsible for the health and safety of those children while they are in my care. Please be aware that I am mandated by law to report any suspected abuse, mistreatment, or neglect of children.
Through continued education, early childhood community involvement and connection with other caregivers, I will provide the highest quality of care for your child.
I will attempt to communicate with you on a daily basis about your child’s day. Should you have questions at any time, you are encouraged to contact me after business hours to discuss any concerns you may have. My focus is on the care of the children during the day and it is difficult for me to hold a private phone conversation at that time.
I will schedule a conference with you on a yearly basis to discuss your child’s progress and any developmental or academic concerns you may have. You are welcome to join us at any time to observe the activities your child is involved in. Children love it when parents come to the facility.
PROPER ATTIRE
- Child’s play is messy work. Your child will be painting, playing in the grass, in the sandbox, playing with chalk and other various activities. Please do not expect me to keep your child’s clothes clean and free from stains. Please dress the kids appropriately, I will not be responsible for clothes getting messy. The children will participate in all activities regardless of their clothing.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
- We spend a lot of time outdoors every day except in inclement weather. This time is important for your child’s health, growth and development. Every day please make sure your child has the appropriate clothing to play outdoors-including shoes, coat or jacket, hat, mittens, snow pants and boots. If your child is too ill to go outdoors, he/she is too ill to be at child care.
- Our outdoor activities will include using the playground in the backyard, riding toys and playing games. We also go on many walks, and enjoy the parks. During the summer, most of the day is spent outside.
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
- We provide a variety of fun learning experiences for all of the children. We work on letter, shape, color, and number recognition daily as well as a variety of arts and crafts, music, and concepts (like big and little). In our facility, we focus on social and emotional regulation, this is what every child needs to be successful in kindergarten. The goal of preschool is to have fun and provide a little extra learning stimulation for the older children. It will not be a rigorous academic program as young children learn a lot from play! We will be starting zoo-phonics in January, 2024.
BIRTHDAYS
- Each child’s birthday is his/her “Special Day.” You may bring a treat to share on your child’s special day if you choose. We also have holiday parties as well. I may ask for parents to provide different treats as needed.
NAPTIME
- All children will be required to lie down for a nap/quiet time each day. No child is forced to sleep. Our rest period is from 12:00-2:30 p.m. To avoid disturbing the children who are napping, please try not to schedule pick-ups or drop offs at this time. If you must pick-up your child during quiet time, please notify me in advance so that I may have your child ready when you arrive.
- We provide a personal sleeping bag and pillow for each child These are laundered every weekend and more often if needed.
MISCELLANEOUS
- Please make sure to send extra clothes, to be kept here, in case their clothes become dirty. (marked with their name)
- Please call or text me in the morning, (evening before if possible) if your child will not be attending that day.
- Please share information with me that will help me better care for your child.
- Please respect me and my home. The respect that you show me, including my home, furnishings, equipment and yard will communicate itself to your child and will make for a better working relationship.
PERSONAL POSSESSIONS
- Please label your child’s personal possessions
- Please be certain that boots slip on and off easily, zipper’s zip etc. as the malfunction of these things can hinder and frustrate the child learning to dress him/herself
- Please encourage children to take responsibility for their own belongings.
- I am not responsible for replacing lost or broken toys. This is why I request you keep such items home. If toys are brought, they will go into their clothes cubby.
- Accepting responsibility for their own possessions is an important skill for a child to learn.
HOUSE RULES
- Please go over this section with your child (if age is appropriate) so they may also know what is expected of them while at child care. I expect all children (age taken into consideration) to know the rules of the house. These I assume are quite similar to the ones you have in your own home. I don’t intend for these to sound as though I don’t allow the children to play and enjoy themselves, but I feel that it is important with the number of children in a child care setting to follow these rules to insure safety and lower maintenance of my home.
*No Hitting, biting, pushing, kicking etc.
*No throwing or intentionally breaking anything
*No running, jumping or wrestling in the house
*No picking up baby’s or toddlers
*No leaving the house or the yard
*No name calling, teasing etc. Everyone is treated with respect
*No food or drink brought from home into daycare. NO GUM!
*PLEASE no toys brought from home. These toys cause many fights and they may be broken or lost. I promise we have plenty of toys to play with at daycare.
IMPORTANT: Pick Up
Sometimes at pick up time, the children may get rowdy because someone else is here (you). Your child has listened to my rules all day, please show your child that you respect me and my rules by reminding them and enforcing them while you are here. Please remember there are times we have places to go or appointments that we have to meet at the end of the day. For this reason, please don’t be late! Child care hours END at 5:30p.m Monday-Thursday and 12:00 pm on Friday’s. (Unless other arrangements have been made in advance)
DAMAGES
- It is expected that your child be respectful of my personal property and furnishings. A certain amount of “wear and tear” is normal, but if your child intentionally damages my property through destructive behavior or roughness, you will be liable for 100% of the replacement costs. This reimbursement is due with your next payment.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
- At “Lindsey’s Littles Daycare” you can always be assured that the door is open to you. Please keep in mind there may be times when it is not convenient for me to run to the phone. (i.e. diaper changing, bottle feeding, etc.) If the phone goes unanswered, please do not become alarmed, simply leave me a voicemail and I will call as soon as I am able. You may also communicate with me via email or text.
