Course Description: Students will learn bicycling skills, bicycle safety, and simple bike maintenance during class. This class will be followed by a day-long bike adventure on the “World Famous” Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail. A mid-day picnic and swim (weather permitting) at the Wilton Park will be part of the adventure. A geared bike in good working condition and helmet are required. Permission slip and informational letter will be provided to registered students. This class is open to students entering 5th grade through students entering 12th Grade.
Due to an increased number of students registering for this class and then not attending, interested students will need to fill out a paper registration form (found in your school office or from Mr. Fiske). You will not be able to register for this class online.

Course Description:Play new and exciting board and card games that you've probably never heard of! These games range from free for all, two teams, multiple teams, and all on the same team games. We promise you'll probably never want to play Monopoly again after playing these! This course can help you make new friends, learn new games, and have a blast whether you win or lose.

Course Description: Come and spend a week at Nordic Lanes as you practice and sharpen your bowling skills. We will be bowling 2-4 games each day as we have fun in a relaxed atmosphere. We will cover some bowling terminology, practice bowling technique and even go behind the pinsetters to see where the ball goes after it hits the pins. Parents are responsible to get their chil(ren) to and from Nordic Lanes each day.

Course Description: Boys Basketball is gym time for boys Monday-Thursday in the Fieldhouse from 10:40-11:40. This class is for students who have just completed grades 8th-11th. On Mondays and Wednesdays there will be coach led workouts that work on basic skills of basketball. On Tuesday and Thursday the focus will be game strategy. This will include offense, defense, and situational basketball.

Course Name: Canoe Adventure

Course Description:Students will learn canoeing skills and water safety during classroom instruction. The class will be followed by a day trip canoe adventure on the scenic Black River. Information/permission slip letters will be sent to registered students. Swimming ability and PFD required. PFDs will be available from the place we rent canoes for those who do not own one. This class is open to students entering 5th grade through students entering 12th grade.

Course Name: Drivers’ Education
Drivers’ Education Has Found a Parking Place at WASD Summer School
The Westby Area School District is pleased to add the Classroom portion of Drivers’ Education to its Summer School curriculum.
The 30 hour online class will be FREE OF CHARGE to students as long as the 30 hours are completed by July 31, 2025. This is a $120 savings to families.
The instructor, Mr. Kelly Olson of Street Smarts Driving School, will partner with TeachSafe Online Driving School to provide the students with the required information and hours for Wisconsin Licensure. The class is available to students who will be 14 years of age by or before June 1st, 2025.
Students can complete 2 hours/day and may work at their own pace. Chromebooks will be available to check out from Westby Schools if needed. The permit test will be administered at WES in mid July and early August where students will have the option to take the permit test.
Registration is open through June 1, 2025.
Those registering will receive a welcome email from Street Smarts on June 2nd with instructions for the course.

Course Description: Westby is offering this course at a cost of $10 per person attending. Experienced current and past instructors from the Westby area will be teaching this course led by Coreen and Nate, who is a certified Hunter Education Instructors through the DNR. Due to the growing number of attendees, sign up early to ensure your spot. This course is for anyone from the ages of 10 to 100! Adults who want to take the course are welcome.

Course Description: This will be a blended class. OPEN TO INCOMING JUNIORS & SENIORS ONLY who are enrolled in AP Psychology next school year. This course is designed to supplement the Advanced Placement Psychology class offered to Westby High School Juniors and Seniors. Students will be given tips on how to succeed in an AP class and prepare them for the rigors of Advanced Placement. Students will get a Jump Start on projects, assignments and readings that will be assigned during the first weeks of quarter 1 and allow you to earn higher scores. Introduction to Advanced Placement will be a Blended Learning class. We will meet face to face on several dates but time will be spent working online.

Course Description: Weight room will be open daily from 630-1030am. Workout booklets will be provided to students to do a 4 to 5 day per week working plan. The focus will be on core lifts, olympic lifts and general strength training.
Course Name: Tractor Safety
Grade: Ages 12 and up Location: Vernon County Fairgrounds

Course Description: An educational program to enhance the safety knowledge and skills for youth operating tractors and machinery on Wisconsin farms.
Dates: June 17, 18 & 19
Students can be dropped off and picked up at the Vernon County Fairgrounds. Please
bring a sack lunch each day. The fee for the course is $45 to cover materials and fuel.
