All prizes are for the entire month, unless otherwise noted. You cannot win more than two prize categories per household.
Prizes are only available for people residing in the respective region. For example, Bay Area prizes are only available for Bay Area residents, etc.
Additional Bay Area information
Prizes will either be shipped directed to winner’s mailing addresses, claimed at the Rider First Award Ceremony at 375 Beale Street, San Francisco on October 9th (time TBD), or can be picked up at a transit agency headquarters or customer service office. The delivery method for each prize is indicated on its entry.
We love our transit operators, but Ride Contest prizes are available only to transit riders, not transit operators who log the routes they drive professionally. Do you know a transit operator who goes above and beyond? Nominate them for a Rider First Award by September 27th.
Rules: Winning Prizes
The majority of prizes will be distributed via a raffle system. Each transit trip you take will count as a raffle ‘ticket’ for a transit agency specific prize.
When agencies have multiple prizes (ex: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place), we will randomly select three ‘tickets’ from the pool of rides for that agency. Of the three ‘tickets’ selected, the rider with the most rides will be awarded the 1st place prize, the rider with the 2nd most rides will receive the 2nd place prize, and the rider with the least will get the 3rd place prize.
Raffle prizes ensure that more riders have an opportunity to win prizes! Riders who take a lot of trips will have a greater chance of winning and will be more likely to get the top prize.
To ensure fairness, we will ask selected winners to send in their Clipper Card data to prove accuracy.
2026 Bay Area Prizes
Grand Prize
Tour of the TJPA Salesforce Transit Center Trainbox on October 20th, 2026 at 3:00PM - 4:30PM.
Rules: Use the hashtag #TransitMonth2026 on Instagram, Twitter, BlueSky, Facebook, Mastodon, Threads, and LinkedIn throughout September and the people with the best posts will be invited to the tour! Your post can be about anything Transit Month or public transit related! This includes attending a Transit Month event, how you're doing in the Ride Contest, transit-related media or art you've created, etc. Posts that disappear (such as Instagram stories) and are published on private accounts are not eligible as we need to be able to find them by the end of September.
AC Transit
1st Place: AC Transit/Oaklandish vintage prize pack, with 65th anniversary shirt (pick from size M, L, or XL) 65th anniversary dad hat, limited edition poster and a vintage AC Transit pin (circa 1980s) all in a canvas tote bag
2nd Place: AC Transit canvas tote bag with "floaty" pen, notepad, mug, waterbottle, assortment of vintage stickers/pins, and canvas pouch
3rd Place: AC Transit stadium bag filled with an assortment of stickers, pins, a squishy bus, and canvas pouch
Delivery Method: Winners can pick up items at the AC Transit customer service center, located at 1600 Franklin St. in Oakland.

1st Place: Ride in the BARTmobile in a 2027 local parade of choice plus one guest (e.g. Chinese New Year, St. Patrick Day, SF Pride, etc.)
2nd Place: BART legacy car HO scale model train (Pick an A or C Car) and 2026 BART Holiday Sweater (size of choice)
3rd Place: BART Merch prize pack: BART system map tote bag, system map water bottle, system map hat

Blue and Gold Fleet
1st through 8th place: PIER 39 Premiere Passes, provided by Blue & Gold Fleet and PIER 39
Offers admission to The Aquarium of the Bay, a ride on The PIER 39 Carousel, admission to The Flyer @ PIER 39 and a 1-hour Bay Cruise with Blue & Gold Fleet.
