Membership Report:
It was noted that we presently have a Club Membership of 43 regular members and 14
Conservation Members. Two potential new regular members were present at the meeting. They were Eric Barnhart and Chuck Ison. By unanimous vote both were welcomed as regular members to the Club.
- Field Committee – Dk Deibert discussed the need to cut the ailanthus trees within the CREP fields. Jarrod Specht pointed out that by using a different cutting method and chemical treatment we can reduce the possibility of tree reproduction due to root sprouts. It was agreed that we will use this new method.
- Pond – Mike Kotay – Mike reported that the lower pond was treated with Clipper and that good results were seen. There is still a small percentage of Watermeal present. Mike said that pond committee members will make a small treatment of Clipper to the lower pond and that Aquashade would be applied to both ponds as well as a Navigate treatment (for small aquatic plants) would be made to the ponds where needed. Mike also mentioned that a new supply of chemicals would be ordered so that they would be available for the next treatment when required. It was also decided to purchase 2 new aerators for the lower pond to match those being used presently at the upper pond. Based on a motion by Dick Deibert and a second by Gary Rehm the purchase was approved.
- Range
- A chairman for the Range Committee is still needed. New member Chuck Ison volunteered to take on this responsibility and was appointed Chairman of the Range Committee.
- Grounds Committee –Ken Hartman
- No formal report was given but it was noted that Ken had performed a good bit of weed spraying around the Club and was still working on plans for the extension of the dock at the Upper Pond.
Tenant Property – Chimney – A Chimney Sweep needs to be hired for this job and
coordinated with our tenants.
- A Board meeting needs to be called to review what Dick Fantazier has completed concerning the lease. No date has been set for this meeting as of this time.
- An electrical consultant has been contacted and will check the wiring in the tenant house. He will also provide overall electric services to the Club when needed.
- No update was made on the Safety Deposit Box issue.
New Business: The slate of Officers and Directors will be emailed to all
members and will be voted on at a future meeting.
Director Joe Szewczak reported on the latest news from the Lebanon
County Federation of Sportsman’s Clubs. The Club will host a speaker who
will provide us information about tree planting. Joe also reported that he
had received concerns about the need for additional safety instruction for
the shooting activities for the Youth Field Day. The members agreed that
this would be a priority for next years field day. Finally, Joe noted that
there will be 14 youths chosen by the Federation to participate in a Wild
Pheasant hunt and that applications for this hunt need to be submitted to
the Federation by August 3, 2018.
Member Kirby Keller mentioned that the Federation would be manning a
booth at the Lebanon County Fair held during the last week of July at the
County Fairgrounds. This is an excellent opportunity for us to make
residents aware of what we do and the many opportunities which exist at
the Club. Any informational information we wish to provide would be
distributed at the Federation Booth during the Fair.
Member Bob Crosby mentioned that we should make additional payments to
the principle balance on the mortgage since the amount of interest we
receive from our other accounts is much smaller that the interest we pay on
our mortgage. It was agreed that we will do this in the upcoming months
although no definite amount of payment was specified.
For the good of the Club:
We will prepare a list of all Club Contact information and account numbers to
be used by utility companies and others who have a need for this
information. This will simplify a request by an outside group who may need
this information when contacted for service.
