Hello
This is Joshua Kirk
Skills
I’ve been reviewing music for a decade now, ever since I started at the age of 11 in the fall of 2012. To this day, music continues to be my greatest passion and I still enjoy reviewing albums and telling people to check them out. However, on a more serious note, I’ve had muscular dystrophy and autism throughout my life. Therefore, I’m not very active physically and my autism has many pros and cons. As for pros, I can remember things I attend to, speak up about and address my own needs, and be honest about everything. Cons include moments of stress, difficulty processing plan changes, and desires and expectations not being met.

- When the mentorship was over, I wrote three more press releases for albums released through the reissue label, Sundazed Music.

Assorted venues - Attending concerts and meeting with the artists
- 2024 - Brian Dunne
- In 2023, I met up with the people behind Yep Roc Records in North Carolina for a week in July at the start of my mentorship. The first time I met those people was in April 2017 when I went to North Carolina for spring break, and the second time was in October that same year for an event known as Yep Roc 20. At this event, multiple artists signed to the label played for a few nights to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
- In 2022, I was invited by Phoebe Bridgers and her manager, Darin Harmon, to two of her concerts on her Reunion Tour. The first was in Phoenix, AZ at the Arizona Financial Theater, where I got to meet Phoebe and her band after the show. The second was at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., where I got to join her on stage to scream at the end of her song, “I Know The End.”
- 2017 - Jonah Tolchin
- 2014 - Kacey Musgraves, Jukebox The Ghost (again)

YouTube - Album of the Day, What’s On Repeat, Rank ‘Em
- “Album of the Day” is a series on my YouTube channel where I review albums I like.
- Over the years, my reviews have gotten some attention from the music industry. For example, I was interviewed in 2013 by a music writer, editor, and photographer named Philip Cosores for an article he wrote in Consequence of Sound.
- I’ve also been lucky to form relationships with other people involved in music, including Jukebox The Ghost, Dr. Dog, Phoebe Bridgers, and the North Carolina-based independent label Yep Roc Records.
- Since the 2020 lockdown, me and Brian Kuhn, a friend of mine from Detroit, have been co-hosting a series called What’s On Repeat, where we talk about our favorite new music. I have also joined him for a few episodes of another series named Rank ‘Em, where we’ve ranked the discographies of artists such as Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and Elliott Smith.
