SEPTEMBER

  • Use google calendar and google doc folders to keep tasks and assignments organized.
  • Register for challenging courses to prepare for college.
  • Check schedule to make sure you are registered for courses needed to meet your goals.
  • Register on Naviance.
  • Register with www.collegeboard.org to create a personal academic profile.
  • Begin a portfolio to include certificates, awards, achievements.

OCTOBER

  • Join or initiate a club during club recruitment.
  • Attend an orientation to the features of Naviance.
  • Naviance: Complete “Career Interest Profiler” to begin the process of narrowing down career options.
  • Attend GPS Fair to learn about internship, career, and college options.
  • Attend Restorative Academics for tutoring support.

NOVEMBER/ DECEMBER/ JANUARY

  • Naviance: Complete the “Do What You Are” (Personality Type Assessment) to allow you to begin the process of investigating potential careers that fit your personality.
  • Attend and participate in Exhibition of Learning.
  • Attend a guest speaker presentation at Campus Career Day.
  • Attend Restorative Academics for tutoring support.
  • Study for final exams.

  • Naviance: Set long term goals for education and life after high school in “Success Planning.”

FEBRUARY/ MARCH/ APRIL

  • Naviance: Complete “The Learning Style Inventory” to help recognize natural learning styles and strategies; also helps to understand career and development skills.
  • Naviance: Review completed surveys and inventories. Have you aligned yourself to your passions and interests?
  • Review A-G requirements for long-term course planning.
  • Complete course request form for next year’s schedule.
  • Attend Restorative Academics for tutoring support.
  • Attend and participate in Exhibition of Learning.
  • Naviance: Complete “MI Advantage” (multiple intelligences assessment) to reveal strengths and challenges and offer ideas on ways to develop all aspects of intelligence.

MAY

  • Naviance: Complete “Strengths Explorer” to identify personal strengths.
  • Meet with school counselor to determine any summer courses needed for advancement, grade or credit recovery, and complete enrollment.
  • Attend Restorative Academics for tutoring support.
  • Study for final exams.

JUNE/ SUMMER

  • Complete summer school course (if applicable) and request transcript
  • Visit colleges.
  • Update your portfolio with achievements.
  • Participate in community service. Log hours.
