Parents’ Right-to-Know Accountability and Report Cards
October 1st, 2024
Dear Parent or Guardian:
You have the right to know about your child’s academic progress toward college and career readiness. Your child receives academic progress reports and report cards, including information on state assessments in reading, English/language arts, and mathematics, monthly during the Formal Treatment Team Meeting. These results will also be shared in the monthly Formal Treatment Team Meeting.
The district must provide you with information on each state and locally required assessment consistent with Title I under the Every Student Succeeds Act, Pub L. No 114-95. Such information must include the subject matter, purpose, and source of the assessments. It may include the time expected and scheduled for the assessments and the times and formats for disseminating assessment results.
The district conducts FAST testing in Reading/ELA for students in grades 4 through 10, in Mathematics for grades 4 through 8, three times per year, and writing for grades 4 through 10 is offered once per year. Additionally, the Statewide Science Assessment is administered annually for students in grades 5 and 8. Certain courses also require End-of-Course (EOC) exams, as well as the Florida Civics Literacy Exam, depending on student enrollment. Students under 18 pursuing a GED must have a signed waiver to enroll in the GED program. For any questions, please contact the Assessment Department at fsatesting@flvs.net.
