Join the Art Department this Wednesday in the art gallery for the Fall Emphasis Show.  We will be exhibiting fabulous LaFollette Student art from 6-7:30 this Wednesday.  All are welcome.

MSCR Homework Club will be open after school today until 4:15.  Students need to be in the LMC by 2:35 in order to attend.

Are you looking for a summer job?  Are you interested in working with kids?  MSCR is now hiring for the Leader in Training program.  Students who are hired will work with MSCR elementary programs in the summer for 7 weeks making $12/hour.  Applications are due by January 17.  Pick up applications in the LMC or CLC.  Talk to Mr. Dane in the CLC if you have any questions.

Thursday is the deadline for teams to register for MSCR Metro Basketball League.  This league is open to any 11th and 12th grade student who is not on the WIAA basketball teams.  Players form their own teams, minimum of 8 players on a team.  Please see Mr. Dane in the CLC to get your roster page and registration forms.

The first trips for MSCR Ski & Snowboard Club season are January 17th and 24th.  This group is open to students with all experience levels - beginners are welcome to join!  Pick up registration forms in the library or CLC.  Space is limited so sign up soon!  See Mr. Dane if you have any questions.

Lastly this dance is for La Follette Students ONLY.

Calling all Juniors interested in the fields of Nursing, Emergency Medicine, or Fire Fighting. We are hosting an assembly in C17 on Monday Jan. 13th during 7th period. The assembly will include a brief presentation from MATC about some opportunities they offer within these fields your Senior year. If you are interested in attending, please see your counselor or Mrs. Swanson in the college and career center to get a pass. Hope to see you there.

LHS College and Career Center is exciting to bring to you Health Science Career Week. This week we will be hosting events each day promoting different careers within Health and Health Sciences. Today during 7th period MATC will be hosting an assembly for our Juniors interested in Nursing, Emergency Medicine, or Fire Fighting. Make sure to sign up with your counselor or Mrs. Swanson if you would like to attend. Tomorrow during lunch we will be hosting some UW staff who are promoting a surgery internship available through UW Hospital. Interested in learning more? They are working on improving recycling and composting systems at La Follette and they are currently raising money to donate to help the Australia fire relief effort. According to the Manhattan Institute of Medical Training, the healthcare field is expected to grow by 30% in 2020. This is just one of the many reasons to consider getting into the healthcare field upon graduation. If you want to learn more about healthcare stop into the College and Career Center during lunch. Today we will be hosting UW hospital staff, who are bringing you information on their surgery internships. Tomorrow we are hosting Dr. Matt Brown who specializes in sports medicine and is also a trained physical therapist. Come learn more about the different options in this growing field!

Want to work with elite Franchises such as the Packers, Blackhawks, Twins, or Bucks? You don’t need to be an elite athlete to do so. Why not go into Sports Medicine. SENIORS!  This is just a reminder that Midwest Scholastic will be here TODAY during the lunch hour to pick up your cap and gown orders!  Please make sure you are getting them in.  If you haven’t picked up your order form yet, please see your neighborhood secretary.

Hey All, if you are interested in helping to plan this year’s Diversity Week, come to B1 after school today.  We will meet weekly on Tuesday afternoons.  See you there!

Class of 2021-2023, you course cards are due to students services by Friday of this week. We want to make sure that you get the classes you would like, completing your cards and handing it in is step one to a successful 2020-2021 school year. Questions on the card? Come to student services at lunch for drop in with counselors in the college and career center.

Hey Seniors!!!!! Be sure to submit your college plans to the Statesman yearbook staff in G11 by Feb. 21 to be included in the yearbook! Pick up a form at the G11 door, Mrs. Kennedy’s room or in any of the offices.

Here is another reminder about course cards, they are due FRIDAY! Remember that our goal is to decrease schedule changes this fall, so make sure you complete your card with the courses you PLAN to take. Think it through! Questions??? Freshman- Juniors, today is your last day to check in with counselors at lunch about classes to take next year. Course cards are due tomorrow! We want to get all students in the classes to assist them in their college and career goals. Hand your card in today!
